opianstate |
mine plugs into the BNC? outlet on the top of my mixer . . . some mixers have an outlet for them and some don't. |

The input is better known as the microphone input. It has three holes on the bottom inside of a female O plug |

Depends, there are two connections : the XLR input like Flesch says, and the BNC connector like opianstate says (that one is coaxial, same connector as on older Ethernet cards).
But a lot of mixers don't have a dedicated light connection at all, so if that's the case, you'll need a lamp with an external PSU. |

so for the mic input for my pioneer djm-500 mixer what kind of lamp coudl i use? or what would i be looking for as far as out of the lamp? |

Don't mistake the lamp connection with a mic connection. They can both have the same connection (XLR) but it doesn't mean that you can plug the lamp in the microphone input.
As far as I remember the DJM500 has no dedicated lamp connection, so you'll have to find a lamp with external PSU. |
