Symptoms of needing new needles vs. a problem with the carts?

Hi,

I've been using a pair of Shure SC-35C headshell mounted carts since I started spinning about a year ago.

Last night during an online set I started getting distortions from one of my decks and noticed that the cart was riding lower and lower. I briefly fixed this for the rest of the set by removing and then re-inserting the needle assembly. I'm fairly certain that this wasn't a balancing problem, as I haven't had any problems with them previously, and I believe that I have the tonearms calibrated properly.

I assume that this is a sign that I need new needles?

That's a good point. I'll pick up some needles this coming weekend and see how much of a difference there will be.
