Interesting that Ferguson claimed Porto only had "one shot in the first half", and Neville said they had "a couple of half-chances". I must have been watching a different match, there were at least three good shots on target plus a couple of others that came close.
I can't stand diving but it was nowhere near as bad as the UEFA final against Celtic. Over the two legs however I think Porto were the better side. Man Utd may have got the better of this one, but they were basically outplayed in Portugal and fortunate to go into this just a goal down. Scholes was being played onside by three defenders for his disallowed goal, so Man Utd fans do have reason for complaint. As for the late equaliser, Man Utd have inflicted that misery plenty of times over the years, it was bound to hit them sooner or later. I think Howard could have done better with the free kick to be honest.
As for Chelsea, they hardly went through all guns blazing did they? They gave the image that they are hanging on in this tournament. I wouldn't be surprised if they go out in the next round, they seem to huff and puff a lot in Europe but lack the fluidity of teams like Arsenal.
If Real Madrid and AC Milan (both riding on a draw) follow the same fate as Juventus and Man Utd this could be a tight tournament. Arsenal would seem the strongest of the remaining sides, but you can never bank on British teams in Europe. |

hey porto toaylly outplayed man u in the 1st leg should have won by 3,4-1 easily and it would have been a fair score

Diving ? ok carlos roberto dived once in the penalty box in teh return leg ...but so did van nistelroy ok .....
face facts you whingers PORTO were BETTER than you ..couldnt beat them even at home, even with our best palyer out injured for both legs (delrei) and one of our other good players playing e (Deco) ... you guys are crap and Porto should that especially in teh 1st leg

Fergie's latest signings have been almost as bad a Gerard's, i think he might be taking lessons from him, "HOW TO WASTE MONEY 101". Ronaldo is almost as bigger waste of money as Diouff was to Liverpool. He doesnt know the meaning of one-touch football. Lately fergie's team really has diminished, it's not the same team it was when he had stam in the backs and beckham etc, he made poor sales and stupid purchases. I believe Arsenal will go all the way this year in the champions league, i think they are playing awesome football at the moment, and bergkamp is a legend ;). We'll see tommorow morning though ;D
oh and MAN U calling porto divers is a bit hypocritical, especially when you have nistelrooy on the pitch |

the diving complains are getting funnier and funnier :stongue: Carlos Alberto did it once in the penalty box, but most of the time there were real faults, what are you expecting the guy do to, to stand, make a smile and pretend nobody touched him? as for benni mccarthy trying to delay during stoppage, wtf was giggs doing in that corner already in the start of the second half, noooooo that wasn't delaying for sure? you guys seem to be half-blind. also it's ironical that ferguson cheated by creating a huge pressure atmosphere around the game by complaining about porto cheating.
united does have reasons to complain about that disallowed goal though. and we were damn lucky with the late strike. but in the end, i think it was fair, out of the two legs, porto played a bit better. |

Being a Rangers fan who hates Man Utd I should be happy that Porto have beaten two teams I detest in the past year. But their diving antics have at times sickened me, it wasn't just the diving, rather the rolling about on the ground writhing in agony until the opposing player got booked.
Still Man Utd were poor, and I'm glad they are out of the competition :) |

| man utd's year is not this year....we will bounce back next year. The defence is so poor and getting rid of Beckham...we lost at the end...footie games are like that. We got further than most teams that ppl support but we were bound to lose with that defence...stupid rio. The good thing is we have the financial resources to improve the defence, which will be done in the summer. I hated porto's diving antics..sighs....bunch of pansies and mcCarthy's ego comment....stupid wit. Somehow mcCarthy will eat his words next year, we will be back in the champions league again...i'm not worried. It's footy and it's usually the same teams this far in the champions league...bayern, real, man utd and they don't win it every year. All the man utd haters are having a field day but usually happens when we fail and when we win..you get mad.... |

| im completely shocked at the result to say the least ... we definately played the better football and actually defended brilliantly which has not been common with us in the past ... after this game im beginning to hate Porto with a passion(did you guys check the gestures that fukin **** Morinho made at the united supporters after the game:mad: :mad: ) i hope they draw arsenal or madrid in the next round and get the kiked out of them... anyways i have to agree that the post beckham united has been very week and it doesnt look like we will be winning any silverware this season as fergie himself admitted that Arsenal are currently a better side than united ... come summer we have to make some major buys in the transfer market and hopefully this time fergie wont talk openely about who he wants to buy otherwise bastards Chelsea will come along and buy the player united is tracking as has been happening all this year .... next year hopefully wel have a completely revamped mid field and defence and see fergie getting rid of useless buys like Djemba Djemba:wtf: ... |
