CHAMPIONS LEAGUE (WEDNESDAY 10 MARCH)
Arsenal (England) v Celta Vigo (Spain) |
With Arse up a goal, should be able to take Celta Vigo which is not a very impressive team at Highbury. Arse 2-0 Celta Vigo.
| quote: | | Real Madrid (Spain) v Bayern Munich (Germany) |
Bayern is not having the best of seasons and as much as Real buys talent too, when they turn it up, they can destroy anyone. Real 2-1 Bayern.
| quote: | | AS Monaco (Monaco) v Lokomotiv Moscow (Russia) |
The Russkie team is up a goal, but the game is played in Monaco where the weather condition won't effect Monaco's game. Depends on whether Morientes has a good game or not, I think. Monaco 1-1 Lokomotiv
| quote: |
AC Milan (Italy) v Sparta Prague (Czech Republic) |
Sparta managed to hold Milan to a 0-0 draw during first leg. But Milan is too strong for even motivated Sparta Prague club. Milan 2-0 Sparta

UEFA CUP (THURSDAY 11 MARCH)
Newcastle United (Geordieland) v Real Mallorca (Spain) |
Mallorca does have some talent, but Newcastle I think is stronger side. Newcastle 1-0 Mallorca.
| quote: |
Celtic (Scotland) v Barcelona (Catalonia) |
A game I want to see. Celtic is good when they are good and capable of beating the best teams, but Barca is still loaded with good players headed by Kluivert, Ronaldinho and Saviola. Celtic 1-2 Barca
| quote: |
Benfica (Portugal) v Inter Milan (Italy) |
Benfica is okay, but will lose to Inter if Inter puts on their A game. Benfica 0-1 Inter.
| quote: |
Liverpool (England) v Marseille (France) |
I'm biased towards Marseille because I like their team which isn't have a good season. Liverpool is underachieving at the moment also. Mido and Drogba has potential to be awesome strikers, but bit inconsistent. Still, I think this might be a good match. Liverpool 2-2 Marseille
| quote: |
Genclerbirligi (Turkey) v Valencia (Catalonia) |
And I have no clue this Gencler blah team from. Must be Latvia of UEFA cup or something. Still no match for leading La Liga team, Valencia. Genclerblah 0-2 Valencia
| quote: |
Auxerre (France) v PSV Eindhoven (Holland) |
I don't know much about both teams, except Guus Hiidink is good manager... Auxerre 0-1 PSV
| quote: |
Villareal (Spain) v AS Roma (Italy) |
Possible very interesting derby as both are decent teams. Villareal 1-1 Roma |

Here's mine:
Arsenal 2 - 1 Celta Vigo
Celta Vigo must win by 2 goals to go through so they will have to throw everything at Arsenal. But that's a dangerous game to play at Highbury and Arsenal will find space in Celta's half. I think Arsenal will edge it but Celta are capable of scoring.
Real Madrid 2 - 1 Bayern Munich
Real Madrid are missing Ronaldo and Carlos and I can see this being a tight, scrappy game. Madrid have defensive problems and Roy Makaay is on top form in Europe with 6 goals in 7 games. At the Bernabeu however I would put my money on Real.
AS Monaco 2 - 0 Lokomotiv Moscow
Russian teams are always hard to beat on their home soil but Moscow will have no such advantage here. Although a goal down, Monaco have an away goal and a full strengh squad whilst Moscow have injuries in their ranks.
AC Milan 1 - 1 Sparta Prague
I'll be optimistic and predict an upset here. AC Milan have been excellent defensively in Europe conceding just 3 goals in 7 games. But after Juventus crashed out in front of their home fans last night AC will be cautious not to concede an away goal. A score draw would send Prague through on away goals so Sparta know they have to score.
UEFA CUP (THURSDAY 11 MARCH)
Newcastle United 2 - 1 Real Mallorca
Newcastle have been appalling in their last two European games but we have consistently got results at home this season. Mallorca are struggling against relegation in La Liga and have two tricky games against Deportivo and Valencia coming up. I can see goals here.
Celtic 1 - 1 Barcelona
Celtic have been good in Europe these past two seasons, espescially at home. Barcelona are on a high. I think we'll see an exciting but tight game, but I think Barcelona will have too much for them in the return leg.
Benfica 3 - 1 Inter Milan
Inter are having a mediocre season and are unpredictable in Europe. I'll go for another upset here.
Liverpool 2 - 1 Marseille
A difficult one to predict, I'll go for the home advantage here but it should be a competitive match.
Genclerbirligi 0 - 1 Valencia
Don't know anything about the home side but Turkey is a difficult place to play with their mental fans. Valencia are excellent defensively but need goals.
Auxerre 1 - 1 PSV Eindhoven
Don't know enough about these sides to be honest.
Villareal 1 - 3 AS Roma
Roma are riding high in the Serie A while Villareal are mid-table mediocrity in Spain. I'll go with Roma despite Villareal's home advantage. |

Liverpool (England) v Marseille (France)
Genclerbirligi (Turkey) v Valencia (Catalonia)
Auxerre (France) v PSV Eindhoven (Holland)
Villareal (Spain) v AS Roma (Italy) |
first off, good on you for making this thread.
second off why the have celtic played three european games in three weeks (as has every one else in the uefa cup) it's a bit harsh on all teams involved..
Arsenal (England)1 v Celta Vigo 0(Spain) (agg 4-2)
Vigo are a weak spanish side with little to offer and quite frankly do not deserve to be in the european cup never mind the last 16. They got here via poor sportsmanship from ac milan and will go no further.
Real Madrid (Spain)3 v Bayern Munich 2 (agg 4-2)(Germany)
real madrid, famous for their attacking attitude to the game. as pointed out, they are missing a couple of key players, but still have the fire power to put a few past the dismal oliver khan. with bayern anxious for goals it will leave them open at the back, however with madrid this seems to be a constant problem. A high scoring game. Madrid will be victorious.
AS Monaco (Monaco)1 v Lokomotiv Moscow 0 (2-2) (Russia)
i know very little about either teams so i'll make a conservative judgement, monaco to progress on the away goal rule.
AC Milan (Italy)3 v Sparta Prague 0 (agg 3-0)(Czech Republic)
Belisconi has demanded a more attacking milan team, he will get it in this game. Milan's fire power will be too much for this hearty prague outfit. Expect Kaka on the score sheet.
Newcastle United (Geordieland)0 v Real Mallorca 0(Spain)
This will be a drab affair as most newcastle's european ties are
:D The st james pitch will favour the geordies, but goals will not feature in this tie i'm afraid.
Celtic (Scotland) 2 v Barcelona 1(Catalonia)
personally i'm ting myself at the prospect of neil lennon having to mark ronaldhinio, but celtic will come thru this first leg tie will no less than a draw. Their heart and determanation makes up for their inferiority on the skills side. Barcelona are a moody team and if we can keep the ball off them then they will not work well as a unit, the bhoys can get thru this one...
:nervous:
Benfica (Portugal) 2 v Inter Milan 0(Italy)
inter milan are a shambles. with vieri suspended they have no chance either home or away.
Liverpool (England)1 v Marseille 1(France)
i like marseille, i like their style and i especially like drogba up front. they will get the draw against one of the worst liverpool teams in years, and easily take the tie when they return to the stade velodrome.
Genclerbirligi (Turkey)0 v Valencia 1(Catalonia)
this turkish lot can spring a surprise or too, but all their magic will have no affect in making valencia disappear. the spanish giants are a fantastic team and my tip for the cup. The first leg will be tight and valencia will win it comfortably at the mestalla
Auxerre (France)1 v PSV Eindhoven 1(Holland)
Most boring tie of the round. Two mediocre teams that never spring surprises. I would stay clear of this one if your a fan of good football.
Villareal (Spain)0 v AS Roma 2(Italy)
roma on top form, totti pulling all the strings and a defence like the hoover dam. Roma will take this tie and will progress to the final as well.
That is all...:) |

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE (WEDNESDAY 10 MARCH)
3 Arsenal (England) v Celta Vigo (Spain) 1
Celta have good players but nothing to do in front of a great Arsenal. Also for Celta is better the elimination cause they are fighting for don't descend to the 2nd division.
1 Real Madrid (Spain) v Bayern Munich (Germany) 0
With the refrees help or the Kahn's help Madrid will pass to the next phase. Madrid has a lot of good luck.
2 AS Monaco (Monaco) v Lokomotiv Moscow (Russia)1
3 AC Milan (Italy) v Sparta Prague (Czech Republic) 1
UEFA CUP (THURSDAY 11 MARCH)
2 Newcastle United (Geordieland) v Real Mallorca (Spain) 1
1 Celtic (Scotland) v Barcelona (Catalonia;) ) 2
We'll see a great game tomorrow. I can't be impartial in this prediction.
2 Benfica (Portugal) v Inter Milan (Italy) 2
1 Liverpool (England) v Marseille (France) 1
0 Genclerbirligi (Turkey) v Valencia (Spain) 3
wtf how do you spell this turkish team??
1 Auxerre (France) v PSV Eindhoven (Holland) 1
2 Villareal (Spain) v AS Roma (Italy) 2 |

Wed. Champion's League Results.
Arse 2-0 Celta Vigo. Arse wins 5-2 on aggregate
Monaco 1-0 Lokomotiv. Monaco wins 2-2 on away goals.
-That Lokomotiv player getting sent off early threw off my predictions. Monaco also had a penalty saved by Lokomotiv.
Real Madrid 1-0 Bayern Munich. Real wins 2-1 on aggregate.
AC Milan 4-1 Sparta Prague. Milan wins 4-1 on aggregate.
So, I called the winning team on 3/4 matches. Not too shabby. :) |

| If we got enough people we could do a competition. For example, if you get the exact score correct you get 3 points and if you get the correct result (but not correct score) you get 1 point. |

Liverpool (England) v Marseille (France)
|
From the state of Liverpool's form, I'd say a draw is the best that they can get at Anfield.
Milan Baros is back from that long injury, and scored on his first start for the first team against Leeds two weeks ago. If Owen is hitting blanks than Baros could come up with the goods. There is no other excuse for Liverpool losing a match for the rest of the season except through injuries and of course the substitutions & tactics of Gerrard Houllier :smiletongue:.
LFC players except for Gerrard and maybe Carragher, don't show enough hunger & passion, and the fact that the UEFA cup is their only hunt for silverware this season, will do little to urge them on.
Marseille will pipped the Reds by either leading through a single goal on aggreagate, or on away goals. Marseille despite being drubbed 4-1 more than a week ago in Le Championnaat at Bastia. |
