For anyone who wasn't at the Ultra sound stage Sat. night around 6 you all missed out.
Perry Ferral (Janes Adiction) was supposed to do a Dj set. After opening with an amazing progy tune the sound specialist came over to show Ferral how to use the mixer. Several seconds later Mr. Ferral proceded to totally train reck the record he was mixing into. The sound guy came over again, but by this time Perry already lost hope and steped back to get 40 oz. of beer lol. The sound guy raised his head looking at us then looked down and began what would be one of the best sets at ultra! :)
Perry was in awe and cheered the unknown dj on! He raied his 40 oz in the air and started cheering for him. All that is known about the sound guy is that he was wearing a shirt that said 1200 So me and my friends coined him as dj 1200 lol
I'd give anything to see Ferral do this all over again. What a sight the whole crowd was loving it.

i think junkie xl stole the show at main stage...
i love his outfit
i loved the soft track he dropped as he walked to the edge of the stage and just sat there
i loved the beastie boys remix he played
i loved the energy he brought
junkie xl the spotlight of ultra! |

that's just pathetic for Perry ... Can't believe he was up there to begin with if he screwed up in such a way :p
Now we must find who's the sound guy and we must make him change career paths. |

Oh... so that's who he is...
seems to be yet another one of those people seeing the light and crossing over into EDM from other genres - like Boy George, P.Diddy, and Tommy Lee
I saw him trainwreck 4 times, and I was there with John when I saw that. Too bad I didn't stay long enough to see the sound guy take over.
He played at two other events at WMC. Did anyone happen to catch him at either? |

From your story, it really doesn't sound like Perry Ferral stole the spotlight at all. It sounds like he is a complete incompetent twat, and that the unknown sound guy was the one who stole the spotlight.
Why would he even attempt to DJ if he doesn't know how to use a mixer...:conf: |

Don't be surprised if you see Paris Hilton at ULTRA 7 :p
She'd probably draw the biggest crowd |

Yeah, Perry was a disaster. I stood there hearing him trying to mix record after record and nothing. Trainwreck and another.
I was going to record some of it on my camera, but realize that it would be a waste of memory.
Perry played at the National Hotel on Tues and it was just as bad.
You can't say that Tommy Lee didn't put on a good show. He might not DJ but has good intentions for the EDM scene. I thought his show was true to what he does. At least he didn't "try" to spin records. hahaha
I think my hightlight of the night was Ferry playing Rock you body and then closing with Punk. I know, I know it's played out, but I never heard him play it so it was night. I did enjoy hearing PVD play Crush as I was walking out (didn't want to fight the crowd for a taxi).
All in all, Ultra was a blast again. It's always going to be crowded, since the enormity of the event.
See you all next year! |

What's pathetic is that people are booking him...he's Djing a gig in Vancouver in April....by the way he's known as DJ Peretz.
My dad used to rock...maybe I should tell him to spin some records. |
