basic help needed please

.....and yes i have searched!
i need some basic help in creating the drum beat to go with trance. So far this is what i understand to be correct:
>kick on every beat
>hi-hat on the offbeat
>snare on every other beat
Is this the basic beat? obviously its a simple one cos i dont wanna confuse myself!
Now this is where i'm a bit stuck though, the bassline. Where would i add the bass into this? Could some-one give me an example of a bsic bass rhythm please? |

Most basic bassline of basslines is just like the hihat - offbeat.
And usually it's a clap, not a snare. |
