i need some advice.
a past roommate of mine from college might ask me to pay $500 for supposedly an early termination of contract for sbc dsl. i was just informed of this by making the mistake of instant messaging him.
now just to give you an idea of what kind of person he is, a list should suffice:
he never keeps his word
always lied to me about things
always late, hell even took him a year to cash one of my checks i gave him
sneaky, he never gave me my half of the apartment deposit "we" got back after moving out, which was about 1.5 years ago
so if this arises what should i do? tell him i'm not paying? maybe be a nice guy and say i'll pay half?
now i don't really wanna give him , because of the way he has treated me before, but unluckily his girlfriend lives right next to me, thus he knows were i live and knowing that he's an and if the problem comes up and i deny, i assume that bitch he is may key my car, slash my tires or damage my house or some junk
i wanna be ready and not be hit with it and not know what to say, so whats ya'll advice? |

First of all, what is the situation with the DSL contract? Did you both take out a joint contract, where you each payed half or something like that?
If you split the payments 50/50, then i think you should pay for half of the fine.
However, you also didn't tell us the circumstances in which the contract was terminated.....did it finish when you moved out?
Please give us some more info, and we may be able to help you....
Peace,

I was the only one getting the dsl, but it was under his name since the phone contract was his. I did pay him each month for the phone and the dsl.
The contract was terminated because we moved out of the apartment. It was his duty to cancel the phone and since dsl needs the phone dsl woulda been canceled too. I was positive that it ended, but since it's been almost 2 years and i trashed all the billing and stuff, i'm just not sure now.
It's also my understanding that he may have just not pay the last couple months of the phone and dsl bill because i think collection agenices would call the apartment to talk to him almost every week.
I also feel he's bulling me too. I mean wouldn't he have known a couple months after the fact since sbc woulda just passed it on to the bill collector? |
