Adding crowd noise when making your own MIX

Ok, we all know that when you hear these livesets from the big guys, the crowd noise totally makes the set as awesome as it is.......
now, when we all use Traktor, or VTT, or whatever, is there anyway to maybe throw in a crowdnoise quietly in the background the entire time to simulate a BIG DJ liveset? i want to make a liveset and throw that in so it sounds great.
anyone ever tried this and/or been successful at it? i am thinking you would need a 3rd channel on the mixer to have it going right?

| I've tried it a few times. beleive me, it's bull. you can do it. but nobody pays attention to crowd noises. if you want really great crowd noises, then just grab the mic and shout something like "MAKE SOME NOOOOOOOISE!!!!!!!!!". nothing beats that. really. ;) that will make your set really awsome....... |

i think nothing destroys a mix like the annoying crowd shouting at the worst parts.
or even worst a retarded mc screaming when he should be listening. |

actually i like it when they use profanities such as this

anyway either that or you can grab a couple friends give them free alcohol and make them yell and scream from the background into your microphone. lol |

turbo's right..... you can do what he said or you can tell the 2 friends (when their totally wasted:)) to go to the middle of the dancefloor and start dancing like ing retarded gay people, till the crowd makes this empty circle, with them in the middle of it, so everyone can see them..... :):):):):)
then, with a little luck, everyone will start imitating the 2 drunken boys..... that will be a pretty funny set..... ;););) |

dude, that is so ing weak it isn't even funny.....that's a joke....it's gotta be..lol I mean if any promotor heard that they would laugh at you and your mix four hours....I know I am just thinking about it.... |

ok i guess you guys totally missed the point of this thread... i was being serious.
And no, to all you "comedians" out there, answer me THIS then if you think i'm ing kidding:
why do you download livesets in the first place? you could just download all the singles from the sets and put them on a CD, and go track to track immediately as you wish! The point we download livesets (or at least the reason I and all my friends do) is because you feel like you're THERE... its the ambience of the liveset that makes it so great. And what does this consist of? the hollow-sounding recording and the crowd noise - i don't mean obnoxious yelling into a microphone or whistles or foghorns - if you read my post then you would see i didnt say anything about an MC or that .
But whatever, disregard my question if you think its a joke. This thread was a serious post, and i have seen it done before (i.e. another TranceAddict at one point posted a mix he made himself on the computer, and inserted crowdnoise...... i was awaiting his response).

I am a resident DJ at a local e club here in Ft. Laud.... i do have crowds at my shows. This is not my question. Yes i have recorded mixes at the clubs... But I can't always play the records I want at the clubs (this is how it works for DJ's, ok?) You have to play either:
A) what the format of the club is
or
B) what the crowd is feeling (which is not always what YOU want to play......)
My point? I wanted to try making a mix on the computer (i've never tried it, wanted to try it for s and giggles), and i know that livesets are better with background noise.
I wanted to make a liveset of all tracks that I want in the order that I want (which i cannot do in the club), hence my question.
There is no need for someone to be so trite with me about it. This has nothing to do with "stealing thunder" or "pretending to be famous", i was asking a question for my own personal use. I am not going to sell the CD or anything, so
RELAX!
You need to chill out, and stop being so quick to criticize.

I am a resident DJ at a club, and I DO play what I want when I want, because it took me many years of playing I didn't like eithier to get where I am.....You are just starting out as a DJ, don't fake being a big shot unless you want to get laughed off your local scene.... Anyway, I dunno why I am taking such effort into this thread...if you are to good for my advice then go do it......what the do I know :stongue: |

dude, WTF is with the ATTITUDE?????? you've been dishing it since post #1.... not my fault your bitter, aight? first of all, i don't see how i ever said i'm "too good" for your advice... you never gave me any advice - you just laughed and said that is the "weakest" thing you've ever heard...
I never claimed to be a big shot - read my post, i said i spin in a E club..... but at least i do. I've been spinning for years, but haven't spun in clubs until recently. Sorry i'm not as "good" as you... jesus christ.
TranceAddict is supposed to be about helping people... but if you think you are so great and on a better level that others don't "deserve" what you get than fine.

And BTW, please don't give any "sad" stories about how you had to spin for "years" to get where you were..... i've known people that are TOPS on the tables and have been spinning for over 10 years, and STILL aren't residents anywhere! not everyone gets big breaks..... funny that you aren't even a big-name DJ and you already have the attitude that would make Judge Jules jealous! |
