DIVX playback issues

I have dld almost every codec/prog/etc i can as my vids either show no picture, or only in black and white. there was a point in time where everything worked properly and now everything has gone to hell.
any ideas?
ive checked-
xvid, bsplayer, normal divx, winMP...
the only thing i wonder about is if media player 9.x is ing things up...help| |

| I had the same problem a few weeks ago. I unistalled all of my codecs. Then installed 3vix and divx codecs on my machine and now it works. |

| ill have to try that, tho i think ive done that about 12 times. and the color was lost without my changing anything initially...there might be a hidden codec from a pack that i cant detect| |

ANSWER:
-delete any DIVX codecs or proggies on your comp.
-get videolan...go to settings, hit reset.

Go to your XVID directory->launch avic->load the video you want to view->change the codec in both boxes from XVID to DIVX->press apply!
This worked for me.
