Well, a collection of synths is good, but a large collection is not. When I was just beginning on synth programming,I found so many softsynths that I never really spent time working on just one, I just went through the presets and tried to edit them to make different sounds. It hindered me more than anything. I'd try to aquire vstation, and learn on that.

| Good advice from es there. He is dead on. The thing is, many of the free softsynths can achieve the same sound, or, one you think is doing more than another can be crushed by some other synth. Its mainly about how many waveforms are offered by the synth, how many oscillators there are, and the voice polyphony. V-Station is great for trance and hardstyle, pretty good for bass too. Vanguard is fairly in-expensive and is absolutly awesome. Best buy for your buck though, Atmosphere, hands down. Never looked back after that one. |

| The best free synth is synth1 imo. |
