Haven't you got to be a good team to disapoint?

Come again?

All these English TA posters keep saying that England should be ranked higher then what everyone else is giving them. Well, if England disapoints this time around again, then I won't bother to say the least of their opinions of their own team.

I'd say this though, England won't win another EC until it's hosted in england. period.

England - strong individual players, but they always collapse at tournaments. Have they won ANYTHING since 1966?
Most of it is hype in my opinion.

The Germans always have a superior mentality, even if they aren't as good as some of the other teams on paper.

You're right that we generally look great on paper but underperform on the pitch. However I think you're a bit harsh going back to 1966. In 1986 we were denied the World Cup semis by Maradona's 'hand of god', four years later we were denied a place in the World Cup Final by a penalty shootout with Germany. We lost a place in the final of Euro 96 to the Germans again, and again it was a penalty shootout. In 2002 we conceded a bizarre unlucky goal to Brazil which cost us the game, but there's no shame losing to them. So our record in tournaments isn't that bad, I think we deserve some luck for a change.

Spot on. Given the luck we've had, our record is better than most, well it's better than most anyway :P. Shame we lost to Brazil in the quarters, it would've been nice mullering Germany in the final, who had a ridiculously soft run-in thorugh the rounds. With the excpetion of Ballack and maybe a couple of others, Geramany really are a bit e and should be lower imo in some people's lists.
That said, I don't think we're the best team in the competition. France, Spain and Italy (should) be better than us, although I'm sure Spain will forget how to play football in a tournament (again). If the Czech Republic can play like they did in their qualifiers they have the potential to go far, as I think they could've done in Euro 2000 had they not been drawn with France & Holland.

Personally last 4 imo will be

England

Spain

Portugal

Czech Republic

I really don't rate france this time around, and in a way I could see Spain winning it, they have some good players, esp Reyes, Vicente, Xavi, Xabi Alonso, Puyol, Raul, Fernando Torres and the most inform keeper in the world, Iker Casillas.. can't see a long way past that, tho obv i'd adore an English victory

typical england fan living of past glories get a reality check mate we havent won all since 1966 and thats all we have ever won cose england r look at what theyve achieved present day to see how good they r

Cant be bothered to type out a full list. But i would say winner will be between, France, Italy and Netherlands. England dont have a chance, Englands team looks poorer all the time. Heskey will most likely be playing upfront :haha: :haha:
