let me tell you guys a story.
im not from toronto, but from dominican republic. we love our tribal, so i was as jolly as a schoolgirl when i heard lawler was coming last feb. this was at a small, dark, personal club (cant fit 400 people max, and to do that and have people dancing, all men basically have to wear condoms just to make sure :p)
anyways, the day was here. but lawler's flight is delayed. he gets here at 3am. sadly we learn that due to the bastardous terrorist actions that had recently struck the US, they were still on high alert, and lawler's record boxes had been stopped at the airport in miami.
what does the man do?
calls up the promoter that had brought him. they had spoken a couple times and lawler knew he was a DJ as well. so he says "take me to your house." this promoter has about 500 records. so lawler gets to the guys house, quickly browses through the vinyls and takes a few classics he spots and then says "get me a deck, quick." and starts randomly playing records, throwing the ones he liked in a pile and finally grabbing a bag and putting them all in there.
finally, the man gets to the club, and manages to throw an AMAZING 4 hour set, something i though would be impossible when youre playing with 50% records you heard 20 minutes ago. flawless mixing, excellent programming, twas amazing.
and if you guys wanna hear rise in, i can recommend 2 things:
a) one of you guys can buy the vinyl, and have him sign it before he goes on. you could ask him to drop it, and then imagine that, having an autographed copy of Rise In, and having lawler drop it :D
b) send a cute girl to hug him, get his autograph, and with one of those adorable little smiles, tell him to please drop the track, that he'd be making her night.

Great story BTW :) (is it true? just asking -- 'cause that's pretty friggin' sweet if it is)
I would love to bring my vinyl but I hate having to worry about it all night (where do i put it? -- coatcheck wouldn't hold it and neither would the bar i don't think - and I don't want to hold on to it the whole night) |

Yeah it's a bitch. :S Unless you know any of the people working there, I guess you can't really leave it anywhere. UNLESS, you can manage to get out of the club for a few minutes, throw in the signed vinyl in your car (if you have one :D) then run back in. But that sounds like a longshot. lol. |

Yeah.. that's the key. I know people who know people at the club (and I guess I know a bartender too but not well enough to ask for a favour i don't think).
As for getting out of the club, apparently a friend of mine got her hand stamped when she wanted to go out and come back into System one night -- now I dunno if it's only after a certain time (when lineups are no big deal anymore)
