You have no right to call me weak.

I never said anything near that, I dont even know how anyone could understand it that way...
Respecting other people's religion doesnt mean that u have to be chained to ur religion!!
I love and respect my religion and all other religions, yet iam a very free person and make the most of my life!
It only requires a little bit of respect for such delicate issues.

My appologies if I offended u.

Nice job, you just made an idiot out of yourself. First, you tell me to have a little respect, then you go and insult gay people. Top work!

Yes, because you don't find it amusing, nobody else does. Fantastic logic there.

u think thats funny? the least u can do is show some respect for other religions if u want urs to be respected(thats if u have any)!
ignorant s

I'll pass on the ass thing, thanks for the offer though. And no, I don't have a religion, I do have a philosophy though, and I see no issue with people making jokes about it. Regardless, it wasn't a joke aimed at Muslims in particular, but rather a random post in the spirit of what really was a useless thread.

And yes, because somebody makes a joke, therefore they must be ignorant. Err, nice logic once again.

Honestly, is it international 'get up tight day' or something? The original poster made no references to the song itself, but merely said there was an 'Arabic' song playing on 'the radio'. If you take anything people post after that seriously, then evidently you haven't read the thread.

Very smart and funny arctic...u obviously have alot to learn.
Cant believe I was actually arguing with someone as old as my younger sister....no offence for all of u "mature" 17 year olds...
Ignorants are the people who cant tell when to joke and when not to..
Bravo Sir! love your logic...

oh and quoting you on..

Great, a logical fallacy to start us off!

Thanks for that argumentum ad hominem, but actually addressing the argument/issue rather than making person attacks might be a good start.

Disregarding the fact that 'when to joke' is completely subjective, why are you getting offended when it was evidently in jest? I didn't say "Man, all those Muslims are terrorists, I wish they'd all just shut up". IMO, there's a huge difference between the two (saying something in a joking mannar and throwing around outright insults), as one is setting out to insult and inflame, whilst the other is clearly not said in a serious manner.

Gay is being used in a negative light, no? By saying 'gay humour', an implication that the humour is bad or crap, because it's somehow 'gay'.

That's how it insults gay people. Further to that, it was a serious insult, and not a load of crap (i.e. - my original post). The 'gay humour' point was meant to be taken seriously, whereas mine clearly wasn't. That's why i think it insults gay people, and when viewed in the light of what he was accusing me of, is inherently hypocritical.

By the way, wouldn't you agree that making character assassinations (as you just did) is far worse than making a joke about religion?

Firstly, you felt it necessary to announce that I had ;a lot to learn', without actually demonstrating that this was the case. Then you decided that because I was the same age as your sister, therefore my opinions and/or arguments were invalid. As I outlined above, i think that you actually presented a fallacious argument. If you're truly that offended at something like that (I shudder to think what would happen if someone actually did insult you), then I'll simply delete the post.

Either way, this really is a pointless argument, arguing over religion in music discussion doesn't get anyone anywhere, I'm happy to simply drop it if you are.

I am beginning to think this isn't the right place to discuss this...

Go AHEAD. You should understand, not everybody is dead serious all the time. I could take you saying that Finnish people are shy and stupid WITHOUT taking any offense.

yea, well most people dont take their religion like the way you take your nationality. does it mean its ok to make fun of it? why dont you grow up

Obviously, you can't distinguish between serious and humorous posts. Ergo, you have no sense of humor, and can thus not be convinced the poster didn't do anything wrong by joking.

As I said before, this isn't the right place to discuss this. We both are obviously so stuck in our ways that this isn't going anywhere.

Then again, that's a completely subjective opinion (imho) about what's ok to joke about and what isn't. Nearly everyone I know is perfectly ok with joking about religion, but when I encounter Americans, some of them seem to find any religious oriented jokes extremely offensive. Europeans, Australians & New Zealanders, on the other hand, often don't seem to have the same hang ups. Maybe it's a culture thing, countries where religion is a big issue/the amount of 'believers' is higher aren't desensitized to religious jokes, whereas cultures where religion doesn't play a major role are often more used to people making light of religion?

Heh, interesting topic though. :p

Ah well, if people can't take a joke about religion, I seriously shudder to think what would happen if someone actually did criticize religion. :nervous:
