The next step?

Hi,
For the last two weeks I worked on an original mix and just finished it last night. The only step left is mastering, which I will set a day aside for it.
I have been involved in production and mastering various production skills for so long that the newest song sounds amazing. And these are not my words but words of people that used to criticize my work and give me their opinions. Let me tell you, these people always CRITICIZED, not gave me praise just because they knew me.
So, now Im happy that its finally becoming possible for me to materialize my musical ideas.
But, there is a problem arising from the fact that so much time was spent on acquiring skills and mastering audio that I really am stuck with this creation now. In other words, what do I do now?
My idea is so original that Im afraid if I send it to labels somebody might decide to use it. Or maybe theyre professional enough not to do that. Or is it better to contact some of the producers or DJs already in the game and go from there. Maybe I should just buy a book about music business and read it before I make another step.
What do you think?
Thanks
hey cheggy
I think it is rude to tease us of this great accomplishment without posting a short sample to wet our taste.
Also, I don't think a lable would be stupid enough to take your song and start releasing it without your permission. You can take them to court over that. You have title to it as soon as you make it (at least it is like that in Aus, pretty sure that copyright law is internationl). Just don't host is somewhere so that people can download and sell it themselves, change the artist name, etc.

Thanks Cheggy,
I'll try posting a sample in the near future. I guess I'll start sending to labels.
Cheers mate
