I know there's a lot of carts out there, and i've heard lots of things about them.. Like the Ortonfo's are good but sometimes have problems with them... and i've heard that Stanton's sometimes get screwey on u ??..
Could u guys help me in tellin me whats a good cart to buy??

Peace:D
Kevin
I use the Ortofon Pro's, ya know the black ones. I could not be happier with them. The sound output is fantastic, and if i have the desire to get even better sound output out of them, then all i have to do is buy better stylus for them. On the Ortofon Concorde carts, you can interchange any stylus with any cartridge because the cartridges are all the same. Some just have different paint jobs, like blue and pink...... The only difference is in the stylus.
The Ortofon carts hold the groove well, and are very durable. I have heard from others that there are problems with the contacts, but i have yet to encounter those problems myself(and boy do i abuse the hell out of those mother******s!!!)
In any case, pick what you want. But i will always pick my orts.LOL

i got the ortofon nightclub s.

they have been my first cartridge, and i have abused them through not know whatsup. for a while i had my the weights on the lightest point so the cartridge was down at full force. i lent them to a friend and the ****** didnt put the plastic cover back on so on the trip back they got shaken around, iv dropped them a few times onto the platter and rubbed the needle against the metal. and as of now. the things still work fine (6 months old). I am gonna replace the tips in a few weeks just cuz theyre getting old. but to this day with all that abuse, good sound, and no skipping.

I too am using the Ortofon pro's. They seem to be very good, good sound etc, take heavy scratching before they skip. The connection problems only happen with the Concorde style carts. The metal connectors on these are made from a different metal from the pins in the tonearm, and the two metals react together and produce a gunky mess, which buggers up the connection. If you use the OM versions of the cartridge, that connect to the headshell, you won't have this problem.

yeah my orts concord nightclubs .....have the problem it sucks really thinking about other good carts other then ortofons!
Kevin
I was wondering what tables, those of you having trouble with the connections on your Concordes, are using. I am using 1210's, and so far i have had no problems with the carts, but then again i have only had the carts for about 4-5 months.
