lol, what are you babbleing about..

you mean,

Sun Decade - Follow You
Agnelli & Nelson - Holding Onto Nothing
Corderoy - Sweetests Dreams

are some of the worst records ever made..?

well, i'm not judging you for not liking those tunes, but WTF come here and say you have to be a 15 year old liking those tunes?
haha, thats the most DUMB quote i ever heard! :whip:
All of those tunes are damn well produced and in fact some of the better ones this year imo.
So pls come up with a objective review telling me whats so ty about them. And don't come here and just pull out such a silly complain about you don't liking that stuff atm!!

I'm sikin' tired of peeps just throwing out such a statement without any responsible reasons at all.. bah!!

This thread is pretty typical in that it has someone complaining that this sounds like something else and some prog head saying trance sucks.

Now that we have that out of the way ... What does the word Kallocain mean? And ... are those lyrics from a book or movie or somewhere?

Always interested to know what the inspiration or meaning behind a track is.

To answer my own question, I found this interesting description on the Anjunabeats website:

"As a point of interest, Kallocain is named after the classic Swedish novel which envisions a future of drab terror. Seen through the eyes of idealistic scientist Leo Kall, the book's depiction of a totalitarian world state is a montage of what novelist Karin Boye had seen or sensed in 1930s Russia and Germany. Its central idea grew from the rumours of truth drugs that ensured the subservience of every citizen to the state."

It takes something really good to get me excited about big uPLifting trance. The Nickson remix of Kallocain does.

im sorry to bounce such an old thread, but i thought someone would like to hear my interpretation! ;)

im a cryptography student, and the lyrics

quote:
once again what we have is a few absolutely set things, you know five strings, and a certain number of permutations, but within those permutations infinite variety

seem to be describing a function in the encryption process of a specific algorytm.

"5 strings" refers to 5 peices of plaintext (or text returned from a previous function) to be encrypted. each character will be permuted to another location.

even though the permutation is fairly simple, at the end of the algorytym, a small change in the permutation can cause a huge change in the ciphertext.
