i KNOW this should go in the "anger vent" thread, but i just felt like being a rebel! hehe:D:D
alright this is my post about the people in my town or "trance-hater" people in general....
I've recently discovered that NO-ONE in my town knows exactly what trance is all about. Hell, about 99% of the people in my town have never even heard of trance before. Most of my friends don't understand what I see in trance. They think I'm a whack-o lol, but I simply don't give a . People are so caught up in the MTV over-commercialized bandwagon copycat music society that it irritates the piss out of me every day. The only reason most people listen to this is because they want to act ''cool'' and be part of the IN crowd. I say piss on them.
Every day I hear people asking me "Hey Brandon! Can you burn me a TECHNO (grrr, hate when people confuse trance with techno...same with house)CD since that's what you listen to? Like with ATB, Darude, and maybe some Serena Paris?" I just ignore them and laugh. Also in this town is an ''all ages'' teen night on Wednesdays and Sunday nights where a lot of Hip-Hop/Rap is played by a Globe-Miami **shiver** DJ. In this club (as a lot of so-called 'cool people' dumb asses call it, which I think is REALLY stupid) are 12-15 year old hoochies who think they know what clubs are all about and think they're like 18 or something. One time I went up to this so-called DJ and asked him to play some trance, and guess what he asked me? He said, "East coast or west coast trance, cause they're different.." I just gave him a blank stare, and felt like CLOCKING the bitch right in the jaw. But I kept my composure and told him "east" with as much sarcasm as I could and walked away pissed off. What the hell is wrong with this town??!?!! NOBODY in this town knows that trance is all about the feelings that you get when you listen to it, or the tingles that are experienced when you hear a massive buildup are driven on a journey of ecstacy and pleasure. The bass and synths combine with the arrangement and the emotion of the track to produce what we call TRANCE. God damnit, I swear if one more person comes up to me thinking they know what trance is, or puts on a Fake ''ya, i know what trance is about'' ...and only listens to it because they think they're cool...OMG ill scream lol :D:D:D
so THERE....to all you ''i know what trance is about! its about me being cool and being a poser!!'' dicks out there.....why dont you go listen to like NSync or something....causey youre only ing up our scene even more (we already get enough from the damn American Media)....   :toothless :toothless |

i share your pain, but you know what? garner every strenght you have and show some patience. instead of just getting angry at your friends give them the "techno" they want, maybe spice it with some real trance, but get them hooked. you cant expect everyone to be "educated" (especially in America). the point is start making it "cool" in your area, and when there will be a demand for it the clubs and superstar DJ's will follow. just dont act all elite-ish, i hate it when people do that.
cheer up, man it aint all that bad, i've seen some other people from arizona on this board. |

the sad thing is though.....ive TRIED to get them hooked, but they act all ''dingy'' and stubborn. i tell them 'hey, go to www.tranceaddict.com and look at the forums there, itll give ya an idea!' but they say 'ok!' and STILL dont do it, they just take my advice w/ less than a grain of salt (if that), and ask me for more '''TECHNO'' mp3's.....grrrr....and i live in a town with a total population of 9,000 (ya, it sucks balls)...but ill keep your advice in my head izzy, and thx :D:D:D:D |

Look,
Some people just aren't into music that much. No matter how much they act like it, they AREN'T. They will never get hooked, since they can't get hooked. They're more into what their friend is wearing or listening to, and don't really care.
We're a rare breed [especially in America].
My advice: Things are NOT changing quickly. Move out of Arizona ASAP, and even better, out of the country. Until then, just accept it.
They're the ones lacking the ability to love music. F**k them! |

Well anyway ... If u listen to some PVD or Oakie or Darude , that doesn't mean u know everything about Trance!
Theres so many things to find out there!
U'll be amazed!
Trance's all about!!!
Peace!
PS: THE HELL WITH HIPHOP i'm sick of people thinking they're cool when they listen to it. :whip: |

My biggest Fan = My MOM!...haha... she loves Trance... she's become such a tranceaddict that when im playin a cd, she can tell if its pvd, tiesto armin or even ferry by their track selection!... DAMN thats pretty good IMO!...
And ur talkin bout an old fashioned stay home mom from the middle east!>ahahhaa...
But to reply to the first post in this thread..... All my friends keep askin me.... "YO. can u burn me a rave cd?"...
That gets me sooooooo mad... im like u .. theres like 10 diferent styles in the "rave" scene....
ANd then when they listen to the cd their hooked... but when i ask them to come watch the greatest dj's perform when they come to town..... they're like... " ehhhh... i dont feel like goin to a rave"...
!!!!!!!!!!!!>.... We are a special breed us tranceaddicts..
We cant live with people who are ignorant to our music...
hahaha.. I even get in countless fights with my gf when she says i spend more time with my cd/comp/stereo/listening to music more than i do her!>hahaha... eh.. sex can wait while im listening to a new essential mix!>ahhahaha..:stongue: :stongue: :stongue:
I just wish they could do like a mtv broadcast or something really commercial to show and expose what trance really is and not some underground scary pounding weird music people envision it as...
Trance i have to say is probably the easiest type of music to like, its soft, hard, and catchy.... everything a listener could want....
But u have to imagine what it would be like to have everyone u know listen to trance in a trance filled nation..... hmmmm = ( Holland )
hahahhaa:stongue: |

| I'm angry at the world for being so in corrupt and wicked. It's one thing to watch it on the news, it's quite another to be there watching it occur right in front of you. I just hope it all comes to an end soon, I really do. |

Yeah i hear what you guys are saying, but i have to disagree on some points.... You can't blame people that don't know about techno (or trance, whaddevah you want to call it...) for not knowing "how" to ask for a CD...
Take this example... say you didn't know ANYTHING about heavy metal, but heard your friend playing it so you asked him to burn you a "heavy metal" CD...... now, little did you know there are 30 different genres of metal, from death metal to goth metal to even (and i'm not joking) ambient metal.... Say your friend gets all pissed off at you because you generalize metal, and b/c you don't know what exactly to ask for... or b/c you think Korn or Limp Bizkit is heavy metal.... come on now folks, we can't expect everyone to be as much an expert on trance as we are!
I find myself being the disciple of trance in my community all the time. Granted, it is very popular down here already, but i have a lot of friends who really aren't "into" it.... when they ask me to make a "techno" CD, i just ask them what songs they've heard that they like (to get a feel for the style they like).... then when they say "ATB" or "Blue" (heheh, Eiffel 65!) then i have an idea of what they like.... see?
I will also have them sit in my car and listen to another CD (i'd show them Picotto if they could handle it, Oakie, Tiesto, whatevah..) and chances are they'd love it.... point is you gotta let them learn on their own, but at least they WANT to know... thats a start!
I know about those who mouth off to us, and tell us that we don't know trance, or those that "act" like they know trance.... like that DJ that PlastikE confronted who said "east coast or west coast trance?" THAT my friends, deserves a beat-down. but for everyone else that asks, i say just cool your heels, don't act elitist (as was so brilliantly pointed out earlier), and be the trance-deliverer in your community. Be patient, be honest, and be forgiving.
Cheers, and begin the trance revolution!
-ABT-
(PS - when someone says they want techno, give it to 'em! If they specifically ask for techno and NOT trance, i'll throw down a Picotto Live CD and blow them outta the water! heheh....) |
