One theory is that it is Marsellis soul. I can't be arsed to type out the logic behind it so i will search the internet for it and edit my post later :toothless
Edit - Okay I found it:
Remember the first time you were introduce to Marsellis Wallace. The first shot of him was of the back of his head, complete with band-aid. Then, remember the combination of the lock on the briefcase was 666. Then, remember that whenever any1 opened the briefcase, it glowed, and they were in amazement at how beautiful it was, they were speechless. Now, bring in some Bible knowledge, and remember that when the devil takes your soul, he takes it from the back of your head. Yep, you guessed it boys and girls. And what is the most beautiful thing about a person: his soul. Marsellis Wallace had sold his soul to the devil, and was trying to buy it back. The three kids in the beginning of the movie were the devil's helpers. And remember that when the kid at the end came out of the bathroom with a "hand cannon," Jules and Vincent were not harmed by the bullets. "God
came down and stopped the bullets," because they were saving a soul. |

this thread reminds me of two other movies that i love to hear peoples theories on.
Eyes Wide Shut - Was Tom Cruise's wife secretly in on the whole thing to make him have a taste of the jealousy that she always felt? was it all a dream?
Vanilla Sky - After the accident, was the rest of the movie inside Tom Cruise's coma? or did he really pay for the lucid dream and it worked?
Movies like these I love to watch and discuss. |

It's all because of Tom Cruise though, isn't it... ;)
Pulp Fiction is an amazing film though. Gotta be one of my favourites. :D |

some major spoilers in your post... watch and learn:
*********SPOILER*******
his 'real' life goes up to the moment when he comes back from the club and passes out on the street. that is when he chooses to do the "split" and continue his life with Sofia... gets an operation.. etc.
in real life, he wakes up alone, goes home, doesn't see Sofia for several months, starts drinking, shuns away everyone, and finally overdoses on medication. that's when his body is taken and put into a lucid dream.
/SPOILER |

| sorry to stray off topic, but has anyone seen the original movie that Vanilla Sky was based on? I forget the name, but it's a spanish language film and Penelope Cruz is in it too. |

Abre Los Ojos (Open Your Eyes) - that's the phrase in the beginning of Vanilla Sky. i've seen both, and i couldn't say which one is better.
of course, i'd want to understand spanish to understand what they're saying, but even with subtitles it was a very good movie with a lot of deep stuff. Sofia is a mime and they have this whole actor-liar thing going on... very good stuff |
