Great--got your attention
Ok I bought the Paul Van Dyk Global dvd a few months ago but unfortunately without realising I bought the US version and not the European..Yes I can watch it on my laptop but not on my dvd player which is hooked up to my nice widescreen tv..
From my understanding..Dvds are divided into regions yes..
USA= Region 1
EUROPE= Region 2
Does this mean that I cannot watch this dvd on my dvd player at all,Is there no ways around it? Can anybody help? Is there a code or method of gettin my dvd player to read it???

| go to google.com type the name of your dvd player and the words "codefree" or something like that. every dvd player can be changed to codefree - it is mostly very easy |

There are in fact 3 regions
the first two you are right on
3 = asia
i think that includes australia as well - just kee p an eye out so you dont get screwed |

| yes, that is correct there are 3 regions. Pioneer & Sony have both issued their own "global" code for DVD's. However they do not think uniformality will be determined until 2006. Both companies have a lot to gain or lose in this situation. |

There are, in fact, 6 major regions and 2 special ones.
Region 1 - U.S., Canada, U.S. Territories
Region 2 - Japan, Europe, South Africa, and Middle East (including Egypt)
Region 3 - Southeast Asia and East Asia (including Hong Kong)
Region 4 - Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Central America, Mexico, South America, and the Caribbean
Region 5 - Eastern Europe (Former Soviet Union), Indian subcontinent, Africa, North Korea, and Mongolia
Region 6 - Peoples Republic of China
Region 7 - Reserved
Region 8 - Special international venues (airplanes, cruise ships, etc.) |
