I watched the CNN this afternoon and they said The Dutch Prime Minister had a meeting with President Bush and told him they pull back all the 1400 soldiers who was fighting in Iraq.
So Holland is the first country who fallows Spain's footstep by stop suporting the United States's War on Terror campaign. I wonder when England will do the same

hmm I thought someone posted in another thread that the Dutch PM said he won't pull our troops?:conf:

this can't be true.. European leaders don't change their minds, even if the facts change.. thats what Vesa told me!:conf:

Perhaps you missed something when watching CNN. Don't worry, most people miss quite a bit when they watch CNN. :D These were the PM's statements today. No pull-back, only questions about how long the troops would stay past July, which the PM can't answer b/c it's up to his party and the coalition in Parliament.

quote:

PRIME MINISTER BALKENENDE: George, thanks again for the hospitality. We had, indeed, a very good discussion. We talked about issues around Iraq, the role of the United Nations, by example. We talked about the cooperation in the economic sphere, developments in Afghanistan. We also talked about values in society, an important issue. And especially, we talked about terrorism, the fight against terrorism. And it is important that the world society, international community stands shoulder-to-shoulder and shows its solidarity to fight against these terrible attacks. And we share that same view and we will work together, also, in the second half of this year, when The Netherlands is taking over the presidency of the European Union.

PRIME MINISTER BALKENENDE: It's good to add that we did not talk about the situation after the half of July. That is the responsible of the Dutch government and Dutch parliament and we'll talk about it, as I made it clear already, earlier. But I think it's very good to look always to the situation of the Iraq people and the international struggle against terrorism. Therefore, it's so important that countries are working together and they can draw the same lines. That's very important, but it has nothing to, at this moment, to the decision-making as far as the situation after the 1st of July is concerned.

Never knew the Netherlands had any troops down there. What are they doing? Pulling security perimeter around the Burger King?

Thats the problem with your (US?) opinion: size (of the country ;) ) matters...
If you compare the size of NL and ESP, the dutch have more soldiers in Iraq than the other way round!

Yoepus, mate, I have seen you on various posts take the piss out of European countries for not doing enough to prevent terrorism, not having the guts to do anything and other little digs at Europeans.

At least Spain and Holland had troops in Iraq in the first place. Same with countless other countries around the world, not just in Iraq, but also in Afghanistan. Add to that Bosnia and Kosovo, and the 2nd Gulf War.

Now I'm sure by now you have worked out where this is going, but here it is anyway...

Where the hell is your country in all this?

What's wrong? Soldiers scared of anyone thats not a kid chucking a rock? I thought after the impressive victories Israel has had in the past it might be quite a force, but it appears years of picking off little girls has made you go soft!

So, before you next have the cheek to criticise what European countries are doing in this international war on terror, take a look at what your own counrty is doing as well...

:p

No, that's the problem with your country. They could get overrun by a squad sized element! I wonder how many days it would take someone like Iran or Libya to whip your ass and enslave your population if gone unchecked. Good thing a real country with some weight won't let that happen. Keep up the fight! Guard the Burger King.
