Hello,
I really want to get into doing the loop-based stuff, not necessarily just dance/trance but ambient, general electronica and things like that. Consider me a total noob. There are so many tools around nowadays that I'm totally confused.
What I'm after is something that is easy to use, works stand-alone (doesn't need a whole bunch of plug-ins to start working usably) and above all, extremely easy to grasp. I'd appreciate any suggestions and some idea of why you find the recommended tool good for you.
Oh, if something hardware based is easier to get into, I'll definitely consider that too.
Thanks very much! |

I assume you want some loop editor, try SonicFoundry's Acid Pro 4, works great. anyways this belongs to the Production Forum not the DJ Forum.
Welcome to TA ;) |

Try Fruity Loops... demo version is free and will give you the chance to play around a little.
In time you will need pluggins or hardware there are no two ways about it.
Cheers

Thanks. Sorry about the mis-post in the wrong area. Acid Pro was my first choice followed by the Fruityloops. I was wondering whether there would be any other suggestions, but if Acid Pro is the best I guess I'll go for it. My only reaction against AP is that I had a bad experience with Sonic Foundry product before... but I guess I can't hold grudges for long :D
In terms of hardware (as in controllers, etc, anything that makes the production process easier for an amateur who likes to twiddle with knobs as opposed to move virtual mouse sliders), what's around that I should be looking at? Thanks. |

well I think it depends on how much you can spend and what are you looking for. I'm considering buying a MIDI controller in the near future, it will be either a 49 or 61 key Evolution keyboard, I'm told those are quite good, see for yourself @ http://www.evolution.co.uk/products/index.html . Go to the Amateur Producer's forum and run a search I'm sure there are plenty of forums about it ;) |
