Frank,
scratch the idea of decks and consider buying yourself a set of pioneer cdj1000 decks or any other reasonable cd decks - that is the future. |

I bought something similar to the numark pack. I bought 2 1650's and the 1002 mixer all together.
They have done me pretty well as far as learning goes, but the pitch wanders on the tables and the mixer cuts out when I do quick channel fades on the right channel. I've had this gear for 1.5 years and have been playing on it consistently for a couple of hours per week.
I can't really comment on the stantons though...are they the same price? If so, I'd say it doesn't really matter which one you get. It's all basic beginner DJ equipment. |

CDJ1000 = Lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$
Plus, If I want to to do that I don;t need CD decks. Then I can just do what I used to do before and that is use Atomix Mp3 or BPM studio to mix. I want decks, there is just no substite to records.
The newmarks are 50 bucks more thatn the stantons.
I am leaning towards the newmarks, altho on what I have "tried" to mix since I started buying records was stanons. I don't like the needles that come with the newmarks. But the mixer is OK (altho I wanna buy a Stanton SMX 301 for this set). I got so many records I want to start spinning along with the stuff I have been producing. It's just about the dough now....
Thanks for your input guys....
btw Russ.. Nice avatar ;) |

get the numarks definately....stanton ones aren't that good.
a few buddies of mine have the numarks and they're pretty good, motor on them are strong. Notta stanton fan at all.
And no dj is gonna be a pure "cd" dj, the only reason they use cd's is kuz its not available on vinyl yet. So i don't think that would be the best idea.
Stick to vinyl...the "ORGINAL".It will never die. |

Until you can safely say that every DJ booth you go to will have 2 CDJ's stick with vinyl.
It'll be a long time before vinyl dies completely, if it ever does. |

Vinyls will never die. Records are Records and the ability to alter the sound with records is too great no matter how advanced cd decks will get. Besides. Cds are much easier to lose and steal than vinyls ;) so If a DJ was using Purely only cds then the fear of stealing cds would rise. |

just go to long & mcquade and finance some 1200s and a decent mixer.
you don't have to spend that much up front and pmts aren't bad. i'd look into it if i were you. |

Just imagine if vinyl did die, everybody would just download their music, how would that help the hard working producers, so CD is NOT the future by far, if it is it could lead to a lot of producers giving it up, regardless of these mp3 download laws, there is always a way to get the music for free. And I'd recommend numarks, I beleive they have more torque but still searching for the info will post soon
