Sheraton Biscayne Bay, downtown on Brickell Ave.
$140 night, plus taxes and all that crap. Parking was $25 per day
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. It was so bad that I will never stay in another Sheraton anywhere in my lifetime.
Front desk attendants have trouble with their English, as do many in S. Florida. I was told parking was 16 dollars a day, but they failed to tell me about the mandatory tax which brings it up to 25 bucks a day. I had arguements with management about it, but they don't care and it shows.
The room was awfully small, but it was clean and the furniture was nice, so no real complaints there. Everything is extra though... just to get a small refridgerator was an additional 15 dollars a day.
But here's my biggest problem... I was very clear with the front desk attendee that i had paid in full online prior to my arrival. He seemed clear on it, but he still used my debit card to confirm my reservation. About a week after I get home my debit card is charged $498, in addition to the entire amount that I already paid. So basically I was grossly overcharged by DOUBLE. To make a long story short, I was on the phone that day speaking with about 7 different people just trying to get my money back. Sheraton customer service couldn't help me worth didly... half the time I was transferred overseas to the European customer service branches, who were virtually useless.
Sheraton Biscayne Bay accounting department was extremely rude about the entire issue. I spent THREE HOURS on the phone that day trying to get my money refunded but for some reason they failed to understand that it was their faults. It's obvious they didn't care. My attitude worsened over the course of those 3 hours, but I still maintained a business-like demeanor without losing my cool.
Finally I'm told I'll be refunded ONLY what they overcharged me, and it would take up to 4 business days for me to see my credit. I was overdrawn in the negative on my account so I was less than pleased. No apologies, no concessions, nothing. I couldn't even get them to return my voicemail to simply confirm they had set the transfer in motion. I finally have my refund, but rest assured I'll never stay in a Sheraton for as long as I live.

Ending up staying at the Intercontinental Hotel Miami, right in bayfront park. Overall it was pretty elegant the view of Ultra kicked major ass, a little expensive but didn't get hassles bringing an assload of people up after Ultra which I expected I would since it is a little more of a "classy" hotel. Probably stay there again next year just a little longer. Ohh yeh the elevator to use the permit was expired, my friend noticed and tried to bitch about it and get something for nothing, but didn't work out to well.
Price: Came to $331/night after parking and taxes. |

we stayed at the same place for 90$ a night thru hotwire, and had a very nice experience. i actually made 2 seperate reservations and the staff was very nice about joining them and letting me stay in the same room for 4 nights. i had paid in full before i arrived, and they had explained the 25$ for parking, somehowi was only charged 40$ for 4 nights tho b/c we came in and out and they lost track of it all.... i of course had to give them a cradit card for incidentals, but it was only charged what it should have been chaged. the room service was yummy, the rooms were clean.... only wierd thing was coming back after sander to see 4 crime scene investigation trucks outside along with cop cars....turns out someone fell off of one of the balconies and died... EEEP... but overall i was pretty happy with this place... walking distance to ultra, 5$ cab ride to space... i do wish thy had a mini bar fridge i could have used, but we knew they didnt have on in advance and brought a cooler with dry ice in it.. that made a good fridge for 4 days....
sorry about your bad experience i thought the sheraton biscayne bay was great!! :happy2: |

Probably my biggest problem with their service wasn't that they made a mistake, but that they wasted a ton of my time 800 miles away trying to get them to fix it. Even worse than that is that there were no apologies, no compensation of any kind offered; I was given nothing but attitude through the whole ordeal. :(
Glad to hear you had a good experience though! Makes me wish I had of found that 90 dollar rate!!!! :o |

Holiday Inn Marina Park
This was a 2-block walk to the entrance of Ultra, and about a 5 or 6 block walk to Space. Smack in the middle of all the partying I did. Paid about $110/night after taxes. Its your normal Holiday Inn, so nothing spectacular. But considering the price and location, its definetly worth it. Cab ride to South Beach was about $16 for 3 people.
Breakfast buffet in the lobby for $8 definetly hits the spot after a long night at Space :tongue2
Only drawback is parking. They have a free parking lot, but it only fits 30 or so cars. Once its full, you're forced to find street parking :whip:
i'll make sure to visit this thread again come January! |
