ok I don't know if that's sarcasm but even if the sound is good in a club it too often tends to be way too loud and any educated person would know that prolongated exposure to high level sounds can cause ear damage. Hence ear plugs are a must if you go out a lot! |

Well since im only up in de club maybe once a month these days......I dont wanna go to some place where the system is so fcuked up that you have to wear ear plugs. Last time I was @ Avalon for Ferry.....my ears were ringing for about three days!!!:whip: Im just saying, people like me that dont get out that often.....shouldnt have to worry about friggin ear plugs. We need more clubs like Arc. |

It's not retarded, it's actually smart. If you go out clubbing often you are already at risk. Whether or not your ears are ringing, they've probably already been exposed to high (90-120) dB sound levels for a prolonged period of time. Many DJs now actually perform with earplugs. With the high-end custom models you can still hear all the frequencies pretty well.
Custom earplugs run about $150. Everybody I know who has them swears by them.
Are you at risk?

Hey,
Thanks for all the ear plug info. I understand what you are saying Brian, but I'll probably attending far more the 1 party a month.... I definitely will be looking into the ear plug thing. $150 is a lot, but when you consider the price of not wearing ear plugs it just doesn't make sense. |

you dont need the goddamn custom fit $150 ones.

$12 per pair. i have bought ones of various colors but the ones with clear cap/stem are definitely the least obnoxious-looking. you even get a carrying case 4 free.
you can take the silicone tip off and wash it so they will last you a while. i wear them to gym every day and they probably last me about half a year before they begin to turn yellow.
it lowers the level of music about 1/2 as much as cheapo foam earplugs do. they also let in most of the bass with only slight attenuation, but attenuate treble much more strongly. which is good, cuz bass is not as damaging to the ears.
they were SUPPOSED to attenuate frequencies evenly but like i said, what i found out is that they attenuate treble more than bass, but unless you LIKE your ears to hurt ( some idiots do like that it seems ) you will like these. |
