Alright, the headphone and carts thing has been done to death, but I'm surprised no one has really discussed other DJ acessories. Anyone have any opinions, views or reviews on DJ acessories, such as LP cases, bags, or equipment cases. I'm currently researching cases and bags and don't know which one to get. Which one do u TAs find more useful? Record bags or those hardcases? WHich brand/type would you recommed? :conf: |

for records, I would definatly suggest hardcases.... that way your records won't break or anything like that....
and as for brands, I would suggest Oddyssey..... they are great.
check them out. www.oddyssey.com |

I ordered a hard case from www.htfr.com the other day. £50 UK, I'll tell you if it's any good once it's been delivered!
I would definitely say a hard case is better than a record bag - just imagine if some mindless idiot dropped something heavy on top of your record bag and broke some of your precious vinyls! Yes, hard cases are expensive, but they protect ya ! |

I totaly agree with you!!!
it's a ty situation that you don't have protection for your music...... I only carry my cables in a big bag..... and only the electricity cables.... my audio cables, headphones, mics and all the gentle breakable stuff are in a thick black hard bag that looks almost like a briefcase or a CD case..... only black and leather coated. :)
the rest of my equipment is in hard cases.... my CDs (I work with CDs, not with vinyl... but I want to start with vinyl. I'm already saving $$ for turntables....), my mixer & CD player, lighting and controls........... everything!!!!!! protecting my equipment is very important.
that's my opinion.... how bout you? |

what kind of vinyl holder/container do you suggest for keepin records at home...? |

I keep my CDs in my CD case all the time. at home, I just put the case in my bedroom. that way, I can listen to all my tracks, while in bed. :)
that way, when I have a set to go to, I don't have to re-arange them. I just close the case, and go..... :):):):)
so for vinyl, I guess I'd do the same. just put your vinyl in your record case at all times..... if you're asking about what cases to get, I will definatly recommend on Oddyssey......... :):):) |

I find that 12" by 12" milk crates "borrowed" from the back of your local grocery store are quite useful in storing my vinyl collection :D |

cost me bout $200 but it was worth every penny
thats the only one ive bought so far...the rest are still in milk crates :D |

i use record flight cases.
i never fly, but i like the added security. i mean in each crate i have close to 70 imported records. say i spend on average 12 a piece.
thats 840, almost a grand worth of records. id rather throw out the extra 50 bucks, get a hard case to protect those. allot of them i special order and it takes a while to get so i would get super pissed if i damaged them.
downsides are they are heavy as hell.
i am also gonna be purchasing a dj-coffin for my tables and mixer soon. this is so i can bring em to college, (its been a week now w/o my tables and im getting really upset!!!!!!). once again the hard case protects em. i wont hafto worry about kids spillin drinks in my decks. haha last nite we were drinking ever clear (190 proof).. elligal in allot of states and some of those kids were sloppy.
my opinion, records and the equip is expensive, just drop the extra loot and protect everything. that way u wont ever hafto regret not buying them. |

A hard case definitely is the way to go when protecting your records.
