well ive gotten ahold of some vinyl rips of tiestos old hardcore/gabber productions and i must say that they are really good (im not much of a hardcore fan anymore but i use to listen to it alot before) i wonder why the drastic change from hardcore to trance... i wonder if hell ever produce hardcore again or even dj it...
extepan
when did he produce hardcore?

Haha... that's cool, I did not know that actually. I heard Starecase used to do more Goa Trance before doing more Proggy stuff, for what it's worth.

That's kind of hilarious! Hey, you know... you can slow down the gabber tempo... keep the kick drums (maybe tone them down at points but bring them in when the climax hits)... and make a gabber trance hybrid... I'm sure SOMEONE's already done this

hahahhaahhahahahaha........ *keeps laughing*

I love the idea of mixing styles like that.

Dj Promo produces lots of hardcore with trance mlodies, and lately trancy gabber is really popular

Wow didn't know he produced Gabber. I didn't see any info on discogs on this but when did he start producing and did he use his DJ name or an alias?

somewhere around when you and i were in diapers :p

i read somewhere that tiesto changed his style when he saw Sven Vath spin, because tiesto was born in a town that didnt have much influence from techno, like germany had.

i beleive he started spinning in 1984 at about age 16.

I am almost certain he used totally different names then what he uses for trance (including Tiesto).

Of course, later when Tiesto got big he went on to (allegedly) state that gabber is music for adolescents, which eventually led to DJ Akira - Trancetrutje (means Trancewhore), a terror track with a " TIESTO"-sample being hammered out at 200-300 BPM or so. I have a sample of it, but I'm at work right now. Perhaps Noisician can help here.
