The thing about doing a site like you're proposing is that it likely won't work.

Sturgeon's Law states that 90% of everything is crap. The sheer mindboggling volume of bad music available on the net ensures that most (not all, of course) A&R people are going to avoid it. More to the point, A&R people generally rely on musicians sending demos in to them. That shows them that the musician is already making the first step: taking the time and effort to send their music out.

Sure, this isn't a hard-and-fast rule. Sure, A&R people used to frequent mp3.com to find new acts.

But generally speaking, reps at record labels don't have the time or inclination to hunt through websites in order to find the one decent track amongst hundreds, or thousands, of cookie-cutter bull pieces.

In order for your site to work, you'd need to have reps from a lot of record labels sign on--this gives your uploaders a reason to upload. Further, you'd need some sort of vetting process, ensuring that only decent music is making it onto the site. That's (part of) how you'd be able to convince record labels that it's worth their time to listen to tracks on the site.

Good luck. You're going to need it.

good music will only be on the site, i wont be hosting 100 pounds of jiberish and spending all that money for some mofo's just to host it, it needs to be good. this wont guarantee a sign from a company. But, will help, i was hoping for making this more for producers to get the track out more into the open, and having people like me and you hear some good new fresh artists.
