Blondie - Rapture (Extended)
This song helped the rap movement grow in the early 80's. It's a disco-esque type of song, but very groovy to dance to. Blondie raps a little in the song and if you ever seen the video for this song a dj by the name of Fab 5 Freddy makes a cameo appearance almost as if to tell the skeptical black people to rest assured that Blondie is for real. Although she wasn't much of a rapper this song gave her instant credibility and cemented a small, but growing rap scene. 20 years later, the movement is still going strong. Although most rap IMO is garbage now, there is a small group of artists that keep the true spirit alive. |
