What exactly is the Main Automation used for? Any explanation is much appreciated. |

Its for global automation. Details are in the manual. |

Ah ok i see what it's for now, but the manual fails to explain something. After i'm done with the live recording and save the flp, it will save all the knob tweaks so even when i reopen the file, it's still there right? How do i redo the automation after the file has been reloaded? |

Its the same as any other pattern but its set up and ready for global automation (in other words its called main automation and is played once at the start of the song).
Automation will restart from the beginning every time the pattern it is in is triggered in the playlist. The main automation pattern is started once at the start of the playlist and generally shouldnt play more than once during the tune. To be clear, if u have a melody of 8 bars for example, and mistakenly or otherwise put automation of the synths cutoff or whatever in that pattern instead of the main automation pattern, that automation will restart every time the melody is restarted, which usually isnt what u want to do.

Yes all automation is saved and can be edited/deleted.
If u wanna do it all over again, first make sure ur in the main automation pattern (or whatever pattern the automation is in) then right click on whatever it was u automated, select edit events, click the icon at the top left of the event editor, then go to edit and click delete all. U can then rerecord it or just draw in the automation in the editor (which is what i do). U dont have to delete it before drawing it in or recording again of course but this avoids problems that might come from forgetting u had automation somewhere etc. |

Ah it all makes sense now. Thanx a bunch man. U've been super helpful. |

Actually, it's left over from the days of FL2, when all the automaton had to be within one pattern. Now you can make one pattern for each, and can delete the main one. It's there to let you open old files. |

U could put it in any pattern, but it was always global. |

Do I actually can made more then 1 automation in 1 pattern?
If can, what the use of the MAIN Automation? My frenz had explanined to me but I still kinda lost on the pattern automation.
Let say I had Pro 53 automation on Filter, Release. And Superwave8 automation on Resonance, Attack.
Both of these VSTi automation can be in 1 pattern right?
So my automation can be place anywhere in the EDIT EVENT right? depending on which Bar I want it to take effect on both respectively VSTi.
So it can eventually work like REASON, CUBASE SX? Which we can place our automation anywhere we want (For Example) till the end of the song as we are able to see the whole graph of the automation.
Then whats the use of opening of more then 1 pattern to create an automation? And since Automation will restart from the beginning every time the pattern it is in is triggered in the playlist, why dun we do a full automation on the graph till the end of the song then having on the playlist and place 2-3 'Automation Block' anywhere on the playlist.
Let say PLaylist:
1)Automation of FULL till the end is : ________________________
2)The short automation: _____ _____ _____ (is it for easy method to let it read the same setting of the automation been done? What if I had different Automation for different time?)
How about Volume automation? My friend told me I had to open another pattern for the Vol Automation. Aint this can be drawn in the Edit Event on which bar i want to make it take effect.
Sorry for the poor understanding but I feel lost on the automation. Cant really understand well even thou i read the Manual on the FL.
Had a strong problem on this as I still no use to FL. I get use to Cubase and Reason Automation which is rather straight forward.
Thanks n need a seriously help. Cheers! |

Or you could name your patterns.I never use the main automation file.I just use whatever pattern is next and my songs usually have at least 5 to 10 automated parts in them.I find it easier to use one file for one part although sometimes I will put like 4 or 5 auutomations in that same pattern in that same part. |

I never use the volume automation as volume is too touchy to play with really.I like to use cutoff if I need to do a fade in or out.Its a lot smoother and less touchy.and if your volume is set somewhere funky like in between half and three quarters its nearly impossible to get it to that exact same level easily. It can be done mind you but find it a lot easier to use the cutoff for this applicaion. |

I always thought it was for compatibility with older FLP projects. I believe it serves no use to anyone starting a new project in FLS4+. |
