Ever since I have started making my music I have been searching for software or rather VST or DX softsynth that can create a realistic sounding pan flute. I am wondering if you know of any software I should check out. Thanks.

There's a reaktor 4 pipe sound emulator that is alright...

There's alsd an ethnosound VST somewhere that works via samples for most ethnic instruments, but I forget the name.

Don't know what a pan flute sounds like, but have a go at Edirol HQ Orchestral. It has a wind section in there. It sounds good, but not amazing. For the price, its quite a nice little program for making those kinds of sounds.

Here's what I got from a query at KVR-VST

Hey people,

Does anyone know how to create the pan flute sound in REason? I guess it's impossible, but maybe someone knows how to achieve this.

Cheers!

NNXT? don't use reason but this would be your best bet. Natural instruments are pretty tricky to clone using VA's.

Hey Cheg!

Yeah i was thinking the same, but i think the pan flute is way too complicated to make this sound in Reason...

Cheers!

absynth 2 is the way to go... it CAN actually manage to synthesize a realistic pan flute if you know what you are doing or if you just look thru the patches... ;)... be ready for steep learning curves though...

OK you are going to need a physical modeling sunth..which means basically it uses the laws of physics to reproduce the behavior of an object and it will make brass, acoustic, flute, and bowed sounds no prob...I haven't used it but it's called TASSMAN here's the site
