WTF is up with House? - (Humate@System...)

What is up with house? Why is it played instead of trance all the time? I don't get it?
A lot of people on here, the TRANCEaddict forums have mentioned that System is one of the best places to go on a Friday night... Well...
I went last night, or 2 nights ago, whatever, Friday the 17th, when Humate was there, and it sucked ing hard.
I got there at around 11:40, and was forced to leave at about 4:15 cuz I couldn't take any more ing house...
I mean, I listened to Coleridge, Humate, and Scaife, and all I heard was house... Granted, there was 3 trance songs played.
Now, I'm wondering if the dj's are trying to gauge the crowd, and throwing on a trance track to see if they'll bite, which is what makes sense, but the trance they played last night must have been the slowest trance ever produced, so of course the reaction was less than positive...
I'm ing fed up of house, it sucks in my opinion, there's nothing in it to dance to. (Obviously the beat is there, but I don't consider myself dancing unless I'm moving to at least 3 different beats/rhythm's/melodies.)
So here's 2 questions/requests:
First, if any of you know any clubs that actually play trance, and not just ing lousy-ass house, please let me know.. (At this point, I don't care what day of the week it is, except for Saturdays, cuz I have to work Saturday night. :( )...
Second, if any local DJ's read this, please do me a favour, and try to spin some more trance, and if your trying to gauge the crowd, use a decent trance song to find out...

well, the reason why they're spinning house @ system on fridays is because it's their progressive night.

easy there! HOUSE SUCKS? no it doesnt YOU DO!!!
maybe not too many djs are playing trance BECAUSE BARELY ANY NEW TRANCE OUT THERE IS WORTH PLAYING!!! unless you like hearing the same old ideas rehashed OVER AND OVER again! Trance is good when done right! Lately not too many producers have been doing it right. That is why less and less people are playing it!
also i used to think prog. house sucked too! until i listened to it with an OPEN MIND! which is what i dont think you are doing! |

I have always pitched that System on Fridays is the best
club night in TO right now. They used to orientate themselves to mostly trance when they first started, but they are now stemming to
progressive house much more. Granted, that is fine by me....I have
been taking a great liking to the names like Danny Howells, Luke Fair and Deep Dish.
Steve Lawler and Chris Fortier are going to be there soon...you should
check out Breathe on that night...Fortier is amazing.

The reason most clubs are playing house is because House is way popular than trance in general. I do like trance when it is done right but like Special K (hey are you the guy from Homeofmusic?) said a lot of them are just re-hashed.
If you like trance, I advise you to check out Space, the place is a hole but the music is :eyes:
Actually the best music I have ever heard was from Comfort Zone :eek:
It's like a dungeon in there, but the tunes they play are awesome. I think the reason why it sounds so good there is because besides playing great tunes, the ceiling is very low so it just sounds so much better. |

Hey don't take it personal... I simply stated, that in my opinion House sucks... I respect the fact that others like it.
Also, I have listened to it with an open mind, if I was closed minded, do you think I would have danced to it for 4 and a half hours on Friday night?
Anyway, thanks to the other people here for there suggestions about City Place and Comfort Zone, and I'll probably check them out shortly.. As Noise said, where is comfort zone?
And I'll check out space too, I went once, but never went in, so I guess I never really went at all hehehe... |

LOL, I wouldn't reccomend you guys to go to comfort zone simply because it's not a classy club to say the least. You will find a lot of people going to Comfort Zone after Guvernment is closed on Saturday or when Turbo is closed (these people are basically still high and wants to go chill somewhere with real good music). It's where people go for an after-rave (I believe it is open at 8am in the morning now, not sure..). So if you're not into that kinda stuff, I suggest you not to go because the place is dirty and looks like a dungeon....but the music is GREAT! :toothless I mention this club because the music was good not because it's a place to check out.

| Yeah, as people said before System is prog house on friday... The market fot Trance does not nearly compare to Progressive house here in the city. This is why you see every club having prog. house nights at least once a week. Some clubs before dedicated nights to trance but none have worked out in the past, not enough clientel. |

| Comfort Zone is at College and Spadina on the North West corner, you have to look carefully because the sign is just above the door and it's a small sign... oh to let you know, this place is dirty and sketchy. lol |

yeah just like they told u cz is really DIRTY and SKETCHY...
BUT the music is unbeliveable!!!!!!!!!!!! if u wanna check out some good tribal house come between 9am-12pm this guy DJ ABBY spins (in my opinion the most underrated DJ in TO) He is amazing and i mean he s with your mind like no one else!! for good progressive check out dj mark scaife (www.djmarkscaife.com) he spins later (i don't know the time!)
