I agree with the article alot, but I have made plans about my life that keep me comfortable and the stuff i do in the present leads towards bettering my future. And I also make a point to do my best and have enough fun in the present as well. I'm confident that I'll be very happy with my life in the end, but i prefer not to think of the end, as it's a limiting factor in LIVING life.

Yep, this is the way to live your life. I think I'm doing this at the moment. Work 8 boring hours and enjoy the rest of the day by listening to music, reading, or chilling out with friends. I just wish I enjoy my job so that would make it 24 hours of pure fun. :)

I'd actually like to start going to these trance events cause I know I'll enjoy the music. Missed Ferry Corsten 2 weeks ago :( Problem is none of my buddies are into trance music.
Hah i was in your shoes pretty recently. I couldn't find a job i liked so i created one. Now i leave home with a smile on my face every morning (or afternoon if i feel like it), it's ing great. Same deal with the buddies too. Just find some more friends you can go clubbing with!

This whole thread is so representative of what's going on in my life right now !!! It's scary!!!
I am leaving all my amazing friends back here in TO to follow my dream...I use to do horseback riding for 9 years when I was younger, and left it all behind when I started partying, doing drugs and living on my own. Now, everytime I see a horse on the TV, it breaks my heart since I miss it so much, and I feel it isn't right for me not to be around them anymore. I then took a really big decision, and decided to leave my job, which is OK, but not what I WANT to do, and to move back closer to my family (Montreal) to enjoy some time with them while I still can, to also follow my dream and work all day with horses. I was ready to start with a little job, that barely pays the rent, just to be happy and feel fulfilled about what I do.
Then, the best thing that could ever happen to me....
I actually found a job that is even better that what I was dreaming of....and I didn't even think a job like that could ever be mine !!! I am moving to Mont-Tremblant, to be in charge of a horse breeding farm, to eventually take the owner's succession. I will also be travelling (US and Europe) to buy and sell horses...and be making more money that I am now. I will have to take some crash courses in University to get more scientific knowledge (DNA, genetics, etc)...I could have never wished for anything better !!!!

So my advise to you...follow your dream...even if you don't think it's possible...cause it most probably is. Just put all of your efforts in, be positive and take action...you'll be surprised by the outcome ! We only live once...so live it YOUR way...do what makes you happy and enjoy life !!!:D :D :D

it's easy to meet new people who enjoy the type of music you like. it looks like you're off to the right start by joining tranceaddict and if you make an effort to come to certain meetups and events, you'll meet tons of people who enjoy trance as much as you do! :)

congrats! :) i'm glad you found your dream job!

sometimes following a dream is such a hard thing to do because there are these little steps along the way that you must overcome in order to make your dream a success. i have an idea of where i want to go in my life and i know its going to be a long road ahead of me. i know that i have to keep in mind the bigger picture, but sometimes that may be hard to do, because of the the distractions in my life that causes the little steps to become harder to over come. however i know that once i start accomplishing one goal one step at a time, things will eventually become easier. i just need to get over that first step! :D

but like you said, we only live once and i'm am trying to live my life doing whatever makes me happy! and whatever obstacles come in my way, i will do my best to overcome them and learn from my experiences along the way.

cheers. ;)

That's awesome! Your story reminds me of a guy i know who one day decided to leave his job, girlfriend, family and friends and move to Spain to pursue his dream of being a DJ. He flew off and several months later, the company he worked for went bust, and it turned out that his girlfriend cheated on him several times while they were still together. Someone once said "if you're willing to stake everything on a single decision, you are sure to succeed." Words to live by.

He says he loves it. He gets to spin in little clubs and cafes filled with interesting people, often travellers. That and i think he's learning how to play the drums and plays with a live band sometimes. He seems really happy and carefree.

I'm probably gonna end up doing the same thing sooner or later. I just don't see myself calling a large city (with a few exceptions) my home for the rest of my life. I think coastal Australia or the Pacific Islands would make for a far better permanent residence. My only reason for being here right now is money. When it's covered, i'm off.
