Recording on vinyl

| Does anybody here know of a service that records onto vinyl? I have a couple of loops/samples that I'd like to record onto vinyl, but am not really sure where to go. I know vinyl presses want an arm and a leg, but I'm not looking to mass produce. I just want to record a few. Thanks |

look for companies that do dub plate pressing but they're only good to play say 20/30+ times.
Otherwise there's no true alternative financially. The other way being having a mold made and then have the vinyl pressed but that's 200/300 bucks just for startup costs.
It's not really a viable solution if you're going to want to regurlaly play your stuff ( the dub plate solution ). |

| You can get a vinyl cutter.... It fits right on top of your technics actually. I wouldn't front the money for something like that though |

| Yea, if I had the kind of cashflow that allows someone to drop that on a whim, it would definitely be mine. You still have to figure that a blank vinyl to record on (which I don't think is even made with the same material as normal records - could be wrong) costs roughly 10 bucks. You're back where you started. Might as well hunt a copy down and pay the normal 9.99 cost. On the other hand, you could throw a few of your favorites all on the same vinyl. It may limit what you can mix, but it will definitely lighten the load of your collection! |

| i'm almost positive vinyl cutters can only copy other vinyls... doesn't the needle run over one record... store it into a memory & then press it on to the blank one? Well mate the best advice i can give you is just to pick up a single issue of DJ mag... within the back 25 pages there are loads of adds, and there are have to be 5-10 just for vinyl pressing... usually there is a minimum of 100 copies or so. |

Vinyl cutter aka Dub plate makers can cut anything. Why do you think dub plates exist in the first place? To press a vinyl that didn't exist before so if you could only copy another vinyl ROFL I don't think it'd be very useful. |
