hmmmm......sounds interesting......details!?!?
and I was wondering u guys recommended BPM Studio and PCDJ, what about Fruityloops? how is that compared to the others? |
|

of course!!! I recommend PCDJ, and AtomixMP3.....
AtomixMP3 tells you the BPM of each track and it has a "Mix" button so it's very easy to use.....
and PCDJ is very stable, and it's got alot more functions. but PCDJ Silver deosn't have a BPM option......
btw, just a small question: what kind of DJ do you want to be? mobile? club? what kind??????????? |

BPM Studio is more professional than "PCDJ Silver".. but both are good(notice i'm talking about using them with an external mixer).
Fruity Loops is not a Player/Mixer program... it's a Sequencer/synth program.
Atomixmp3 is not even close to the level of "BPM Studio" or "PCDJ"... it's totaly an amatuer program, can't be used with an external mixer. |

Alonzo is right. atomixmp3 is not as good as PCDJ or bmpstudio.
I think it depends if you're gonna use an external mixer.... (2 channels....) but beleive me - it's hard to mix with a computer.... beatmatching and stuff like that is very hard........ I'm doing my best not to use my laptop at my sets..... I do sometimes..... but still - you can never know when your windows decides to preform an "illegal operation" and crash at the best part of a track...... :):):):) |

alright, that clears some things up :)....

I was looking at becoming a club DJ.......but just a question, whats a mobile DJ? I've seen it mentioned, I probably know what it is, just dont know that the term that is used for it
I was wondering, if I start out using software and an external mixer, am i gonna suffer when i make a transition to using turntables? |

a mobile DJ is a DJ who own his own sound and lighting equipment, comes to your home, or anywhere you tell him to, and builds up his set. you can see mobile DJs at weddings, bar-mitzvahs, birthday parties......... anywhere that has a party going in there and it's not a club. :):):)
I'm a mobile DJ..... and I have 2 partners who come with me to my sets. I'm the DJ, one partner is controlling the lights, and the other owns the lights and helps us both...... he can take over the set when I'm tired, or take over the lights..... he does everything we tell him. :):):) lol....
anywayz, about your last question, I don't think there will be any suffering going on, as long as you connect your computer and turntables to the same mixer...... if you want to make it easy for yourself, DO NOT buy a 2 channel mixer!!!!! buy one with at least 4!
beleive me, it's best if you want to put a computer too.....
I work with 2 CD players, a computer, a minidisc player, and I'll start saving $$ for turntables as soon as I buy a new pair of speakers..... (being a mobile DJ is alot harder and expensive....:( )
and my 4 channel mixer makes it so easy to control everything.....
and if you want to ask what mixer, look for the Gemini PDM-250..... I'm using a Phonic DM-3030, with is exactly the same as the Gemini PDM-250, and I'm very satisfied with it. |

ok, thats what i thought a mobile DJ was....
and about the mixer....I went around web sites, I didn't see the Gemini PDM-250 or Phonic DM-3030 mixers? actually i saw none by phonic, any web sites u know that could help me out?
and while im asking away here.....headphones, i saw alot, i liked alot, any recommendations? |

| I started djing bij just buying the things i need, step by step. I doesn't have to be technics, pioneer or denon at first! First decide if you want to mix with cd or vinyl (i prefer vinyl, it's more fun). Then try to find some turntables (direct drive if possible, it's far better then belt drive) or 2 cd players with pitch, and a mixer with equalizer per channel. If you decide to do it a more professional way, you can always upgrade your stuff step by step. I did it this way (i am working with my 3th mixer, 2nd cdplayer and 3rd set of turntables), and it's the easiest way of you don't have that much money. if you still have questions, ask me!! well, about the websites, here are some sites who can help you with looking at gear, and even ordering.....
www.geminidj.com (Gemini website)
www.phonic.com (Phonic Website)
www.hollywooddj.com (a HUGE store for DJ equipment)
www.djstore.com (another store, not as big as hollywood dj, but still good)
www.djtronix.com (yet another store)
I think those sites will help you quite alot. if you want more, just ask. :):):)
and about the headphones, I'm using a fake of Stanton DJ Pro 60 headphones. their easy to use and for storage cause they fold up to a little bundle.... and their pretty good (even the fake is. :)). so I guess I would recommend them for beginners...... but if you want something really good, get the Sony MDRV-700DJ. they cost about 125$ but I heard they kick ass!!! I'm about to buy them..... |

DON'T BUY THE GEMINI PDM SERIES!!!
They suck!!! they don't have EQ for each channel, the sound quality is very poor, the are not durable and reliable... don't get them!!!
No matter what mixer you get, make sure it has seperate EQ for each channel!!
If you want a 4 channel mixer whivh is cheap, check out the Stanton RM-100 or the RM-80... if you want cheaper check out the Gemini BPM-500 or the BPM-1000..
Tell me what budget do you have and i'll do my best to help you..
P.S.
Never buy anything from hollywooddj.com or from djstore.com!!! i know alot of ppl who ordered from them and didn't get what they ordered.. and was still charged on it!
Good DJ equipment stores are:
www.audiolines.com
www.musicfactory.com
www.pssl.com
(don't mind the prices, all of those stores match prices from other stores) |
