Sahara is awesome! One of my favourite tracks this year. TO be honest i was'nt really into North Pole.. It sounded WAY too typical. That's why I love Sahara it's unique and its sounds awesome.

Sahara is one word...WOW!!! Kalahari is great also. I love all of Solid Globe's work with the exception of North Pole.

Kalahari all the way :) The darker driving beats really make it stand out in this world of fluffy trance.

Sahara sounds practically identical (almost same bassline, etc.) to North Pole up until the breakdown where we get the "unique" dying cat synths which sound terrible imo. I can't understand the hype, and it's caused me to avoid listening to ASOT lately, and also avoid armin's new compilation.

To each his own, but it seems to me that people only started liking this track because Armin hammers it in every set. Most people thought it was garbage when it first aired on ASOT and then opinions changed when it got played OVER and OVER and OVER again. I guess you all will get tired of it like you did ATRC because you don't listen to anything in moderation. Me, I still listen to ATRC because it's a nice track and I don't idiotically play the same track 24/7

Anyone with half a brain knows this tune is very respectable and cutting edge, they took a serious chance with Sahara, and it worked out. Im inclined to believe that you really don't know what your talking about.

not only can you not spell, you're completely full of . "cutting edge", "serious chance"... do you believe the garbage you're typing or does it just sort of happen without your input?

Kalahari is by far the better track on this 12", as it dares to be experimental and tries out new stuff. Sahara is run of the mill ASOT fluff like North Pole, although I haven't heard anything like that "dying cat"-synth before.

I'm sorry, but there needs to be some perspective here.
A dying cat synth is a dying cat synth. To me, the tune in Sahara was memorable but ruined by a so-called 'experiemental' synth that simply sounds too weak and too annoying.

Sure the melody is great, but the song itself lacks a certain punch to it that North Pole had - to praise it as better than North Pole is to reward it too much for its supposed 'experimentalism', and forget that ultimately, a trance song has to have some substantial body in its sound. Sahara sounds too hollow and flimsy, even the background chords sound like they could be upped a notch.

Kalahari is ... not much better.

When I started this thread I thought I was gonna get bombarded with posts saying "it's an amazing track" but it appears that some people agree with me.

It just doesn't sound.... hmmm whats the word? Complete?
Sounds like they've tried to add an edge of experimenting in there without adding it to something good.

It's hard to describe why I don't like it because I thought I would. I keep thinking I'm gonna buy it because its Solid Globe or because I think I'll like it in a few weeks but then I listen to it and its just disappointment all over again. Really can't see myself going for this one this time.

I recently did my second 2nd demo mix and used both sides of this vinyl in this set. Kalahari is just amazing for sets, and Sahara...I sooo love it, ever since Ferry opened his set @ Trance Energy 2004. Overall, a great 12" to buy.

They're decent tunes

Actually, the main synth rif in Sahara sounds like a cat meowing...
you know that Meow..meow...meow..meow

I think Sahara is pretty cool. It has a nice rythm and you can't the chilly tune out of your head. It's not a killer production
