How do you make your melodie

BIKKEL
I was just wondering on this wednesday evening.
How do you guys make your melodie.

Are you just making your melodie in big lines with chords or do you have a different way.

What i mostly do is:

Making chords of each 1 bar long and then making the melodie in big lines and when it sounds nice i make from that 1 bar long-note little notes.

So im wondering if there are also other ways to reach nice melody's

hmmmmmmmm... hmmmmmmmmmmmm... hehe
sometimes i just play around with my keyboard and come up with something.. sometimes i have an idea in my head.... it depends on... sometimes i'm just playing around in fruity and come up with something...

so i don't really have any special way of making my melodies...

many times i make something kinda "straight"... maybe just some small changes.. changing some note up and down, but it still sounds nice.. and when it's finished i start changing the notes to get it more intressting..

it's a hard question

I do the same as DBL, most of the stuff in my head after a while that I put it in FL gets completely changed... the playing with the keyboard is what I mostly do....

I usually just have an idea in my head after getting chords. Sometimes, though, i write out an arpeggio and change the top notes.

I really works great when you first make a beat for it, and then you play around. Play some notes and if you have something interessting press the record button :) You can delete it always so just play around.
NeoPhono
2 Parts Soul, 1 Part Funk and a whole lotta mixin'.

now there's a creative answer :D

All melody is derived from chord progressions (or at least all melody that sounds good :D ) - I'll be writing a tutorial on this within the next week or so.. busy with school now :(

EDIT

To prove my point for all un-believers, I give you this - I did that, basically, with three chords.. damn I'm good :D

I'm still making them fast :wtf: 4-8 bars long :D But when I try to make a complete track from them I'm stuck - can't get that bassline sound right with this kick etc... So I have bunch of those 8 bar loops and have no idea what to do with them :sadgreen:

Sounds cool but it seems you might have been playing too much Final Fantasy J/K...I'd stick a longer attack on the voices though...they aoudn too unatural with that 0 attack. I'm a pest i know!!Cool video game stuff though.
