Subway to JFK Airport?
View this Thread in Original format

Has anyone taken the subway from Manhattan to JFK Airport (or the other way around)?
On which line, and how long did it take for that ride, along with the ride on the AirTrain ?

I'm just wondering how viable an option this would be for an upcoming trip.

i usually walk a few blocks and catch the bus that leaves from grand central its right infront, they leave like every 1/2 hour or so and its not that expensive, but thats just me

take the A(blue line) train and stop at "howard beach station"...then you connect to airtrain shuttle...it will directly take you to JFK airport...subway fare is $4.00, you can't buy tokens now, so you have to buy a round trip fare...blah blah...and airtrain is $5.00.

or you can visit jfk airport website. it will show you ways how to gt to jfk:

good luck

u can also take the E to sutphin blvd or the long island railroad to jamaica (same place essentially) and hop on air train there (probably faster than going to howard beach). u must have a regular pay-per-ride metrocard for the airtrain (in other words, no unlimited metrocards of any kind). happy flying.

tried it a few weeks ago... 1/9 from 116th and broadway down to times square then the E to sutphin blvd... then the airtrain.. took about 1.5 hours total...

the airtrain itself is really nice and fast... nice looking station they built out there.. the subway ride out to sutphin is pretty long though.. be prepared...

i usually take the A to JFK, no problems

leave a good hour before check in, maybe even an hour and 15 mins depending on where you are and what time of the day it is.

I've lived in NYC all my life and have never taken the train to JFK. I have taken a train from JFK to home and will never do that dumb again.

Believe me take a cab.

Well, now that they're raising the cab fare to $45 you're even more better off taking the subway.. save the $38...

it's easy and it'll get you there quicker during rush hour than a cab will... the train's damn nice too... wait until you're flying over van wyck traffic and you'll appreciate it even more...
