Oceanlab - Satellite (Fatboy Remix)
View this Thread in Original format
Fatboy
Been ages since I've posted anything in here. This is the only piece of music that I've been able to finish off since I went in the Navy.

I didn't spend as much time as usual on it, so it's nothing new and groundbreaking in any sense, but I think it turned out pretty good:) It's 192 kbps, but I only made a (pretty long) clip since I don't know the legalities of posting the full song.
Comments are very welcome:p

Bren-F
Brilliant!
However the melody sounds a hell of a lot like 'Fresh Fromage' ! ;)

First of all...
The way you warped the vocals in places like 1:55 and 3:12 sounds uber cool! :)

Living up to your name... your synths are definately phat as usual as can be expected from fatboy ;)

Basically my take on this track is
melody (even though i'm not a huge fan of vocal trance) :
9.5/10
synths:
10/10
bass (a tad bit muddy but has a retro-kinda feel to me and sounds cool) :
8/10
mastering/mixing/overall sound (to my ears, it feels like it could use some more dynamics) :
7/10

Just a bit on the last point... I think your track sounds good as it is but I like a more thumpier track and I think it could use some more dynamics in the main section of your track with all the beats/bass/synths/vocals...

Also... finally... like the unique kinda retro feel to it... props :)
Massive84
cool, the kick is bit low though

but nice melodies!
Fatboy
Thanks for the comments guys:)

netroM: vokal versjonen av FF er brent ut på en cd et eller annet sted. Jeg sender en pm hvis jeg finner den.
TOR: hehe, I guess I like em big:p
Luke: that should be no problem, check pm:D
Bren: about the melody, I said it wasn't anything groundbreaking:stongue: Seriously though, I thought that chord progression suited the vocals so I just went with it:)
kewlness: thanks for that long review:) I agree that the bass is a bit too muddy. I had a hard time getting it right, and in the end I just had to settle for what I had. I also agree about the dynamics. I went abit overboard with the compressors:happy2:
Massive84: I also wanted the kick a bit higher, but it interfered too much with the bass and I didn't have time to change everything around. Thanks for the advice:)

Peace
moore
Very impressive track. Is it possible to get a 192kbps full version to play on my show on trancesphere?

yes! that is really awesome. this roxors :)

the part at 3:59 where its all orchestrated sounding is really cool and then at 4:13 it sweeps, gets all quiet and then busts out full again (i like this a lot).

during the first breaks section i like how you do the kick roll at
2:05, 2:12, 2:19, 2:26 it gives a nice effect.

and then the part at 2:26 and i really like that filtered synth.

starting at 3:15 there are these little synth stab notes, i think they are a good addition too.

also, how you drop everything out at like 5:01 - 5:05 and then come back is cool, you get the idea lol.

ok, this is a very energetic remix and i would like to hear the full version some time :)

good job
djrenco
