Yeah I met a girl who's from Sweden but doesn't like trance/electronica. My first and final reaction...OMG, so dissapointed! :whip: :whip:
Is trance/electronica popular in Sweden or do I have a misconception?! |

| You can't generalise. Although there is some very good trance from Sweden (I love Antiloop, by the way), you'll always have a strong presence of non-electronic genres (I believe cities like Gothenburg are very important in the metal scene, for example). |

nah i wouldnt say that Swedes listen to the same top 20 as us...by far
their pop music is much more electronic based than here in the US, but at the same time they dont ID those songs as electronic or trance - and its Sweden, ABBA is classic, so cheese is def somewhat popular.
per capita there is some knowledgable people there just cause of the producer culture.
but what i was more amazed when I lived in Sweden was that the Dutch people I met hated dance music - and worse, hated Sander Kleinenberg| |

im talking about general people, like average people.
the usa has the strongest pop culture and thats where its strength lies |

| Just because one person doesnt like it, you assume that everyone from that nation doesnt like it as well? |

Swedes listen to trance! at least some of us :) The trance scene might not be as big as the ones in Holland, UK, Germany, US etc, but it exists, and remember sweden isnt that big (just under 9 million).
i am not keeping track of the swedish talents that much but when it comes to
-techno there is Adam Beyer (DJ/producer and Brilliant!) and Thomas Krome (DJ/producer, i like his remix of la la land and his track shockabuku 2), Cari Lekebusch, among others.
-trance, or close to trance - Richi M., Antiloop, Earthbound.
-psy-trance - Hux-flux (i love their track idiot!), Miraculix to name a few. psy-trance DJ Richard Ahlberg was viewed as one of the best in the world (i think) a few years ago, dont know if he plays anymore. runs Kavator records.
-house. markus enochson, koop
So, if anyone says swedes dont listen to trance/electronica, tell them to wake up. it is popular, some of us listen to it and every day more people join our ranks.
and yes, the heavy metal scene with all its sub genres are pretty big. and good! |
