Ok I love movies... I used to work in a video rental store :D I'll try to narrow it down to a top 10 in no particular order.
The Usual Suspects
The only movie I've ever watched twice back to back, Spacey = good.
Shakespeare In Love
Trust me guys... this one is not just your everyday chick flick.
The Killer
So you want to see a real John Woo movie? This is Chow Yun Fat in his classic role.
Chasing Amy
Pound for pound, the best dialouge and most cohesive storyline of the Jersey Trilogy, IMO.
The Empire Strikes Back
I think we all know this one...
Fireworks
Great Japanese Flick with Beat Takeshi.
Robot Jox
This is the most god awful movie ever, bad acting, bad special effects, really really bad dialouge, which makes it the perfect movie to watch when you're high :D
Fight Club
I am Jack's festering need for trance music :D
Moulin Rouge
Unless you have a deep hatred for musicals, this is one classic love story told in a very original fashion.
Snatch
Breakneck pacing and a great ensemble cast of characters really make this one.
Other notables: Seven, Godfather I & II, The Matrix, Big Trouble in Little China, Young & Dangerous I & III, Kafka, Spaceballs, Clerks... ahhhh this list could go on forever |

suzaku...good picks!!!
alright i'll list mine. bear in mind i'm a rather twisted individual, so if you're a twisted individual and you haven't seen some of these movies then consider renting them.
1) in the company of men (not a movie about gay people)
2) grosse pointe blank (great dialogue and john cusack)
3) american beauty (nuff said)
4) the usual suspects (spacey rules)
5) heat (only 3-hr epic i watched back to back
6) chasing amy (ditto suzaku's comments)
7) memento (very unique and still in theaters i believe)
8) the killer (ditto suzaku although i also liked bullet in the head)
9) shall we dance? (japanese comedy)
10) death by hanging (nagisa oshima old japanese film...very thought provoking. i was messed up for a week after that one. i heard his other works are just as good although i haven't seen any of them. check it out if you like philosophy stuff cuz it kind of deals with souls and stuff. let me know what you think.)
there are tons of other great movies like some others already mentioned. no one mentioned any japanime though and some of that is really thought provoking. if you guys liked the matrix then rent ghost in the shell and you'll see where the creators of the matrix bit a lot of ideas from that movie. they even admitted to it in an interview. and we all can't forget the princess bride now, can we?
