Going Clubbing On Your Own...Would You?

Iam desprete to go to a trance club, but ALL my mates are either into rock music or are just not interested in clubbing. Because of this every Friday night I end up going to the same boring pubs and bars, which is ok to chill out and have a conversation with your mates. However it just can't compare to what it must feel like to going clubbing all night with thousands of like-minded people, to the music you love.
It's killing me inside not being able to go, I see no other way out than to go on my own. I can't ever seem to meet anyone who's into trance, seriously I don't know anyone who likes any kind of dance music :( Anyway my question is, if you were in my situation would you go clubbing alone? If I went to a big club then I guess that once I got inside nobody would be able notice that I was on my own as the dancefloor would be packed out. Iam worried about looking like a twat standing outside in the queue on my own, then I don't really know how noticeable it would be inside, I'm just assuming it would be ok. It's easy to say go and meet poeple, but Iam a very shy person and I can't just start up a conversation with someone I don't know just like that.
What's your advice? |

well i know exactly where you're coming from, seems to be a common dilemma. thing is that the situation really differs for guys and girls. i think it's easier for men to go clubbing by themselves because:
1. you won't get hit on multiple times at night if you're by yourself at the bar having a drink.
2. you don't go to the bathroom in groups
3. you guys arent supposed to be as self-conscious as us (:p)
you shouldnt worry about looking like a twat cause youre queing by yourself unless you're planning to go to one of those clubs that you need a member of the opposite sex to go in with. plus once you're in there, after having had a few drinks, it's easier to just dance your way into people and meet them.
you see i have the same dilemma except honestly im too much of a chicken to go by myself. i finally have the chance to see my one true j.holden who happens to come to italy but is playing in a city 4 hrs away by train. that weekend is easter and all my mates have plans which im supposed to be in it to travel. id much rather go see him play but i dont know about going by myself... |

Check the uk forum on here and attend one of the many many UKTA meet ups.
we all had to meet each for the first time at some point and all of the UKTA's are sound, very random and a great laugh.
I have had some of my best nights clubbing with the UKTA's :)

I don't know what I would do (never been in this situation) but if you don't have any alternative... go there and have a good time, just enjoy the music you like and dance.
But you should persuade a friend, I'm sure if you say to a friend that you love trance and you really wanna wish go to a club, he will go with you. But you should persuade him or them. Go with 4 or 5 beers before enter to the club, and he will enjoy the music, sure!!
Even I know many ppl who don't love electronic music for hearing at home but they love it for go clubbing, so maybe your friends will have a good time at a club and they will go with you more times.
Good luck,;) |

I do it all the time. I just go, drink and enjoy the music.
You'll meet new friends by going to these shows, and the best part about the new friends....they like the music you do. so its a doube bonus.
so I say, go out, if you have anxiety about meeting new people drink a little before hand. but don't be that wasted thats by himself. that should ease up any social anxiety and you can just talk to some people about music or whatever. |

| i've been clubbing by myself lots, it's actually pretty fun, cuz you get to do what you want to, instead of worrying about where all your buddies are. the downside is that a cab costs much more. |
