Guys,

I would like to get some advice on what " a good price" for a set or one technics 1200 mk2 deck is? I am looking on ebay and they end for anywhere between 200-300 USD? Is this reasonable? Obviously it depends on condition, but let's assume working condition with some cosmetic blemishes? Has anyone bought these decks from other online sources for comparable prices? I am an avid ebayer, so that is why I am using it as a benchmark

It seems that mos tof them go for about 300 USD on ebay.

I bought mine from a pawn shop locally for 500 total (for the pair of mkIIs) but I was looking at them on eBay to see how good a deasl it was for the week before i got back to the shop to buy them after I saw them.

I highly recommend you look at pawn shops locally before buying on eBay. You get to turn them on and mae sure they work, you usually get a like five day return warranty if they dont actually function, and you don't pay shipping charges (which will be about 50 bucks us usually for a 30lb turntable).

Happy hunting.

yeah about $500 US sounds right for used techs. you will find them cheaper, and you will find people asking more for them. Technics are extremely durable tables. a friend of mine as a set that looks like they are 30 years old, they are all beat to hell and back, and they still sound awesome and function perfectly.

I'm sot saying you should buy beat up decks, but dont worry about a few minor nicks or scratches. worst case scenario, you buy some used decks, and have to fix a pop-up light, or need a pitch calibration. things that any local DJ/vinyl shop or music shop (guitar center) should be able to do for no more than $75.

i wouldnt recomend buying turntables of any other kind in used condition. techs IMO are the only ones reliable enough to know that you are still getting a good quality deck. definitly do not buy somebodys old gemini or stanton TTs that they are selling to buy techs.
