Who here is/was in a fraternity or sorority in college?
How was the experience, or how has it been?
Have there been any trance frat parties (or is it "frat trance parties"? :p ) If not, is trance ever played at any frat parties?

I rushed a few places, but wasn't cool enough to get into any (omg, what a dork I was back then... I now must try hard to suppress bad memories :p). I think I'm glad I didn't, but I'm sure it's different for everyone.

im not in one, but friends of mine are in fraternities and sororities all over the place at different colleges.

My friend is in a fraternity at George Mason Uni and they had a "CLUB THEME" night and i brought my decks up and spun solid trance for a good hour or so..then, just to keep people happy, they played a mix CD full of hip-hop, rap..

then i went on again for another dose of TRance..it was pretty sweet, everyone seemed to enjoy it...despite the drunk girls that would come up and ask if i could play some RAP next. I said yeah sure its coming on next. Fifteen minutes later theyd come back and say "i thought you were going to play some rap!"

i said "this songs not over yet!" heh heh, they cant tell beatmatching! :p

but yeah, long story short is , they said that that was one of the best turnouts for a party and it was one of the best parties theyve ever had.

I pledged Fiji a few years back. I ended up dropping out of it towards then end, well technically I skipped initiation on purpose because I didn't want to be apart of that crap. Some of them are cool, but I hate how the have that "if you're not in a frat, you have nothing to do with us" BS. They would bitch at me when I had a gig and would miss the events. So I chose to rather not pay to have friends and continue on happy with what I was doing.

my ex gf was planning on joining a sorority. i think they are so gay. frats and sororities. i agree with cube on the 'pay to have friends' idea. no offesnse to you steve or anyone else in one, but i just think they are silly.

suprisingly enough I was in a sorority at UCF for the first two years then dropped due to the annoyance it became plus my interests/social life =CLUBBING totally interfered. Im in FL but its pretty much the same anywhere, NO you will not have "trance frat parties" lol its pretty ghey if you ask me, but w/e you can malke your own decision! Its rare to find true clubbers who live for this , much less in a frat , just my .02

i was a tri delta (yeah i know... delta delta delta, can i help ya help ya help ya?) and absolutely loved it my first two years, but being on the other side of rush killed things for me. i still had lots of fun at the socials and other things, but it became a real hassle.

as far as frat parties, some would play sandstorm during parties, but that's about it. whenever my friends and i said we were going clubbing in dc people always asked if we listened to darude.

i went to UF (university of florida) which has a serious greek following,.. i pledged ATO for a single day and quit b/c of the BS i could forsee them making us do, also b/c i didnt want it to take away from my time with the gf,... and it was ever so true that for the frat parties if you weren't a part then you were totally viewed as an outkast and weren't allowed in any parties,.... any female could go to a frat party but guys,..umm nope...

jane- i heard tri delta (come fly these friendly thighs. :))

Did the whole frat thing, graduating in May so not really involved with it anymore. PLedged Sammy at UDel my fresh yr, pledging sucked ass, but I guess it was worth it, cuz I had pledges cleanin my place for the next 3 years.

But music wise, one of my bros hooked me up with a gig I still have today at a bar on campus, where I spin mostly hip hop(I hate that fact), BUT ALWAYS slip in a little new trance...last week I played tracks like "ROCK YOUR BODY ROCK" and "TRAFFIC" and the crowd always seems to enjoy it. I have gotten alot of my close bros into trance too(finally they understand that they are WHITE!) and brought 2 of them to see PVD at glow last fall. But if I could go back now, I wouldnt have pledged, its a waste of needed money in college.
