Hey guys,
I need some help finding a nice place to take a date to for dinner on a saturday. I want a place that's has a great view, a great atmosphere, great food, and that's classy. Something along the lines of Canoe which unfortunately isn't open on saturdays.
I've been reading some reviews on toronto.com and came across ORO. It doesn't exactly have the views that I'm looking for but it seems to have everything else. However, it seems to be oriented towards the 'older' crowd so to speak. I'm almost 21, so maybe a trendier spot would be nice.
You're opinons and suggestions are appreciated.
No McDonalds jokes please :D |

Panorama
its on the top of the Manulife Centre (bay + bloor)
has a great view overlooking the city skyline
thats your best bet IMO...
[edit] i dont think this is the best restaurant in TO but looking at your criteria (ie. view and all that other stuff) i think it fits... |

u read my mind... Panorama fits the description too well.
1 flaw: it's tooo damn expensive. it's nice to go for a glass of wine. that's about it |

if you want class try Octogon
it's on Yonge & Elgin st. in Thornhill, which is like 2 seconds from my place :)
I've never been myself, but my parents have and they say the food is to die for and so is the bill! Really!
My buddies also used to valet there, and Domi and Roberts go to eat there all the time. :toothless |

360, atop the CN Tower, not only do you get the view, but you get the whole view since it revolves...kinda expensive, but if ur dinner is with a girl, it will definitely impress...
Also, not for dinner, but maybe drinks and a light meal, try Glass Lounge in the ROM....very cool decor and atmosphere IMO.... |

 I can't believe I forgot that place!
360 is fabulous for a nice dinner date, but it's even cool if you're going in the afternoon with friends or whatever. It's true that it's pricey, but the food is beyond par. You've already mentioned all of this, Christina, but just to emphasize, the view (especially around sunset time in summer) is gorgeous, seriously. :tongue2 |

thanks for the replies guys (and girls). i've been reading around (mainly toronto.com) and people seem to say that Panorama is only good for drinks. is that place nice even if you don't go and sit outside on the patio?
Phunky1: thanks for your suggestion. it's a little too close to home tho :) the reason why it should be downtown is because i'm going to take my date to see 'the producers'
tha_broad: how's the food at 360? atmosphere? it's kind of funny .. i've lived here all my life and i haven't ate there before. i guess this is common for many ppl tho. |

Hmmm...
If you want minus the view but excellant food go to "Black Angus" near Islington and Bloor just East on Bloor (South side).
Food is great (MMMMmmmm...steak) and the atmosphere is dark woods, plush seating, and all older male waiters...
...and oh yea, not that hard on the wallet either...a real steal for what you get... :tongue2 |
