If you mean how does one get OUT of depression...


Ive been chronically depressed for the last 15 years and then I started working out. I havent had a lapse back into it in a year now. Sometimes seeing a friend with a girlfriend or something makes me pissed like I need a new girlfriend, but that lasts like two seconds.

I work out 3 times a week, run and hike the off days. As soon as I do feel even the slightest bit down I go do SOMETHING active that makes me sweat my ass off and helps me forget whatever im thinking about. Also gets endorphins flowing.


THen i drink my ass off.

listen to trance or metal

skate

play pool

hit on girls that i dont know

the usual basically.

when my depression was worst it helped most to talk to people. and some of the ppl who helped most were people i didnt know at all. i found posting places like here helped a lot. when it got really bad i also saw a therapist. but she was worthless and i resumed talking to random ppl. and it really helped.

actually the whole reason i started listening to trance music, was because i was depressed. i was a dorky emo girl a few years ago, and i would just sit and listen to my sad emo songs and cry my eyes out. that is, until i realized how in retarded it was. so i listened to some Tiesto, Dave Seaman, and Paul Van Dyk CDs... and from that point on, i was hooked. i honestly can't say i've been depressed since then. i don't attribute it entirely to the music (i have grown up a lot since that time), but it was a HUGE factor.

when i do get in a bad/sad mood though, i tend to:

- listen to music
- try to find a club to go out to and dance my ass off
- drink/smoke
- read a funny book
- eat good foods
- go on a shopping spree (a cute new outfit can do so much to lift my mood)
- talk to my friends

watching TV is one of the worst things when you're depressed (at least in my own experience)... i try to stear clear of sitting in front of the TV because first of all you get NOTHING done and you're just being a slack-ass. also, you're most likely going to feel worse after watching shows that make you jealous/sad/mad about your current situation in life.
