Prog & Trance Explained Via Sex, and Other Things

Travelling back from the most recent Vandit Night in Berlin I had to spend a lot of time in airports waiting for flights and coaches. So I did a lot of thinking, and also reflected a bit upon Vandit Night.
Firstly, progressive and trance sets can be explained as such:
Prog - Progressive is like when you build up to one big orgasm that last for a while. It takes some time, and you only get one, but it's a really good orgasm that lasts a bit.
Trance - Trance is like a wild night of hot sex filled with intermittent, explosive, and relatively short orgasms.
A comical explanation, yes, but I think it says important things about music. One type is not necessarily better than another, they're just different. It depends on what you want, and how you want to go about getting it.
Secondly, although I don't think that you can say that any one type of music is inherently better than another (that is to say, what one finds to be musically pleasing is simply a matter of personal opinion), I think that, in general, the EDM culture is superior. Two moments Saturday night brought this moment of clarity to me. The first was Nick Warren out in the crowd dancing like the rest of us, and more importantly the fact that he could do so without being mobbed by fanatics. Second was the ease with which I, or anyone else who so desired, could get right up in front of Paul van Dyk, mere feet away.
What I'm getting at is that the EDM community is so close. The producers, the DJs, the listeners, they're all closely bound together. Many times in other musical genres there is a wide gap between the musicians and the listeners. But with EDM, the gap is nearly non-existent. This website's connections with the music should alone be enough proof of this.
One thing I also love is that with EDM it is really the music that is so important. Although there is some celebrity involved, I think that it is of a much lesser order than in other genres. I could easily get autographs at clubs, but I don't feel the need to because the music is enough for me. In the end, what matters: hearing Nick Warren dropping a great set, or getting his autograph? Will scribbles on paper make me happy? I think not. |

Trance is love (it makes you feel in heaven), techno is passion (it hits you hard and you don't know what's hitting you, you just enjoy) and drum'n'bass is hot steaming all-night-lasting wild sex (do I need to explain?) :D
Prog is like taking a pee after you've hold it for long. You drink, drink, drink a lot of water, that sensation builds into you and then when you take a leak... aaaah, dear God  |
