First of all im using reFX Vanguard as main synth.
You can do verry cool things with it but i noticed that its not fatt enough
I made a search trough the forum and found this topic: http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...9&highlight=fat
And would like to know what is a good way to fatten up the sound.
Is it by using a unison?
Or maybe by layering( and if so how to do it)
I hope you can help me :)
Thx in advance :D |

Well there is the "Fat" wheel in vanguard... :)
But honestly layering is the keyword or it could be EQing or effects. :)
Just do few layers and you should have reasonably fat sound.
Just remember to avoid too fat sound cause it might ruin your tune. |

Is it possible to explain a little bit how to layer it good.
From what i understand is you have to have couple of synths with the same preset( not nessersarly) and let them play the same melodie but on a different range or not? (little bit more explanation would be appreciated :)) |

not when he is using vanguard its not.
hardware isnt gonna make his vanguard sound any phatter.
but yea like others have said
layering, and effects are very important. |

| But with layering do you have to put the notes on the same place or to they have to be an octave lower, and the settings of the synth must the be exactly the same ? |

Well the notes are up to you. And so are the presets/settings. :)
Just a little detune to the other synth and notes played one octave higher. That should do the job. But experimenting ain't bad for you. |

Vanguard doesnt get fatter thats the problem, pro-53 u can get fat sounds by layering and special stuff, but vanguard is too plastic and is only good for subtle sounds...or basses.
layering is what u could try to do but then u get an even more plastic sound. |
