Cd's are the future or not? What do you think?

The possibilities are huge with cd's - playing tracks that wont ever see vinyl release and simply messing and editing tracks etc.... For example look at the site of pioneer, you can see dj equipment for the future.
You can play a track the same night on a party when you burned it on a cd that afternoon.
That is the reason why I think that it is easier when you can buy the newest downloads.
What is an acceptable price to pay for downloads?

| I never liked the idea in the first place. CDs take away the heart and soul of DJing. DJs should stick to vinyls... and I bet more than half of DJs wouldn't even pay for the so called "mp3s" |

aww man this looks like its gonna turn into another cd vs vinyl thingy..
oh well. yeah CDs are good.. compact, easier to carry, and yes like u said... tonight you'll be able to play a song which u burnt this afternoon.
Vinyl gives u the feel.. and looks ultra cool. Decks look ultra cool too. yada yada yada ..
but I don't think solely CDs will be the future of EDM. Vinyl has analogue sound.. sound in its purest..and therefore it will stay i guess... the future will be a variety of media IMO.

vinyls on its way out.
anjuna-digital launches within a month, which is going to own tbh. thousands of tracks for download including unreleased mixes and exclusive up front stuff at very cheap prices from the anjunabeats label. |

I don't think a DJ's gonna pay for mp3's. I'm still waiting for the download service of full wav files. I don't think DJ's want to compromise on sound quality.
The storing media are there. The bandwidth's there. If I'm gonna pay it won't be for less than wav!

If we look at carrying convenience... Pioneer might as well make a deck that let's you manipulate loaded Mp3s and all DJs would have to carry around is an Mp3 player.
I personally would like to stick to vinyl because it allows some kind of limit to a massive genre. |
