i dont see why quit?.. i mean why the did u start out to beggin with, u knew it was bad...

if u really want to quit, see a therapist, get on the patch, or call a help line..

and dont wank off, that will just be like having sex, u need a smoke afterwards:tongue2

im glad I don't smoke.

I always talked to my roommate about the best method to quit smoking.

"You have to quit cold turkey, its the best. I've done it a million times."

samething as that other quote....but form someone I knwo.

its all in your head

do whatever you can to keep your mind of ciggys.
go work out some more.
long runs are always good.

while your trying to quit stay away from all your friends that smoke.
and make sure you don't drink, that will kill any will power you have.

Like everyone else has said, you've just gotta do it cold turkey. If you go onto patches, you're just trading one addiction for another.

I quit about 10 weeks ago and I can tell you that the cravings don't get any stronger once you've gone three days without a cigarette (that is, if you can last 72 hours, you should be able to last for ever). Just get the idea of "one more cigarette" out of your head - pretend that every cigarette on Earth has been irradicated or something. So long as you think "just one more" the cravings will be ten times worse than if you know you're never going to touch another cigarette again.

Just stick to it and make sure you don't smoke at all. In a couple of weeks you'll be looking back and thinking "why the did I do that to my body?" and by this point - no matter how much you crave another cigarette you - won't want another one. I enjoy being a non-smoker more than I enjoyed being a smoker and you will too if you can just ride out this initial rough patch. :)

yeh the thing about smoking is the actual physical addiction only lasts for 3 days, the rest is all behavioural or mental addiction.. if you think of it like that it makes it easier

One of my friend's uncle quit after smoking for about half of he's life. It was a strange way to quit too - everytime he had a nicotine craving, he would eat those ultra-sour candies [they are called War-Heads in Australia]. These lollies gives your taste buds an ultra burst of sourness for about 8 seconds or so, and it seems to lower the cravings for him hehe... Only problem now is that instead of craving for nicotine, he craves for teh lollies :wtf:

not trying to hijack the thread but what happened to WARHEADS?!?!??! i used to love them, and then boom they disapeared wtf?!?!

i havent smoked since saturday...ran out of fags...no money to buy them, so effectively ive given up.

however i am kinda craving for one now, but my will power will see me thru this :)

if i get free baccy or fags then i will smoke them, no point letting them go to waste eh?

u can give up, i can give up, anyone can give up.

all u need is will power.

i havent had a smoke for about a month, and i dont plan on starting up again either!

i use the nicorette gum, works for me...

Yeah, I quit about a month ago. Thank f'n god.
The cravings are pretty much gone now.

Adding to what's already been said ...

Try find a larger goal to quit, if possible. It's more than just saying "I want to quit to be healthy".
For example, is there any sport you particularly like? Make a friend of yours a rival in the sport. You won't surpass him till you quit smoking.
.... that might be a somewhat weak example, but I hope you get my point.
