| I recently got a new car, and the summer is here and when i get out after a drive, i get a static shock from the door when i push the outside to close it. its not harmful, and doesnt "hurt", but its very annoying. how can i stop this from happening? |

| LoL that happens to me all the time. If you've got a key with a plastic handle then you can touch the car with the metal part of the key first in order to discharge yourself (try to do this without scratching the car though :p). Otherwise just touch it with your arm first or something in order to minimize the effect of the ensuing shock. |

| Try pushing it closed with the side of your fist instead of the palm of your hand or tips of your fingers. There might still be a small shock but you won't feel it nearly as much. Most of the time you probably won't notice it at all. |

Nah, you think you look stupid but everybody with a car has this same problem. The only people who would think you look stupid are pathetic pedestrians who have to take the bus, and they look a lot stupider doing that. :p |

hehe true, BUT i have this problem not only with car doors but also with some normal door handles (some days it's just terrible, like all doors give me a chock, donno why though :conf: ) so if i would open all doors with my elbow, it would look really stupid =) |

Let's trade cars :haha:
Seriously, the static is created by rubbing two types of materials together, in this case your clothes and the seat. The seals on the new car must also be keeping the air very dry. So just get a seat cover that isn't condusive to building up a charge, like those wood bead covers. You could also try using an anti-static spray on the seat. |

yeah i got this problem as well too, but my shock is much worse because my car is old and made out of steel, rather than carbon fiber plastic thingys nowadays.
i only get shocked when i get out and shut the door, so my solution is shutting the door by pushing against the window rather than the metal door itself. |

you've ever seen those rubber strips hanging from the rear bumper of the car touching the road? thats to release static energy, for ppl who get carsick, get one of those. should work
